Looks amazing when complete. Of course the wood is not included. Was skeptical at first because the brackets were plastic. Went together easily. The directions were not very clear. If you have an engineering background, you should be able to figure it out.

    • Just what I needed for a pergola slat wall

Excellent kit, and a good solution to my need which is putting a plantation style shutter wall in an outdoor pergola. I have a miradoor outdoor pergola with a 10 x 13 footprint. I had put up a temporary sun shade by using wooden trellis, but its not the most stable or attractive look. This product will allow me to installing 1 x 6 siding slats to create the functionality I want and a more attractive look. The kit comes with enough bits to do 11 full slats. I will need 4 total kits for my installtion, but I've tested out the concept and these will do the trick. The material feels like glass filled nylon or some similar heavy duty plastic, and I have no worries it will no easily degrade in weather or UV. This is pretty much a major concern as I live in the desert southwest which is the "extreme conditions" that everything says its rated for. Kit comes with screws for attaching the 1 x 6 wood to the bracket, and the bracket to your support post. In my case, it will be 1 x 6 that is secured to my upright pergola posts. I had thought about direct attachment, but feel better having wood for the screws to bite into rather than about 2mm thick AL post. The one page instruction sheet isn't the clearest directions, but you can puzzle out how its supposed to work. The one thing I had problems with and found out is how to install the upright parts to allow you to open and close all the louvers at once. The trick is this, once you have installed all of the brackets, but before you have install the slats, you will on one side only, use one of the three mounting bracket holes to screw in the uprights. Yeah, hard to visualize but when you see it (check other similar product pictures) it makes sense. I'm happy - happy enough to buy 3 more kits to built a two louvered panel for my pergola - its 13 wide, and I will have 2 x 4 on either side and a 4 x 4 in the middle and I expect it will be fairly simple to put up. Its a great system for adding shuttered louvers, and I can recommend based on my experience so far. If I have any information later, will update the review. Can recommend. ... show more

Installing this wasn't too bad; having a second person will help out a lot. I found the directions to have some errors and not too clear. The seems costly given these are relatively inexpensive plastic parts. It works and so far I am pleased. I think they will last.

I adore louvers for stuff like window blinds and outdoor privacy walls, so I had to try this product. It seems I can always find a place for another louver panel. This kit comes with all the included hardware to make a louver panel. I’m used to metal hardware for these kits and was kind of surprised to see this one was plastic. It will be a test of time to see how durable it is in holding up to the elements, but it seems to be a very rigid polymer that’s made well and not immediately prone to breaking. Some better instructions could be included, but it’s not a difficult process once you understand the layout. I’m already accustomed to how these louver systems get laid out and function, so it was likely easier for me to figure out than someone who hasn’t put one together before. Once installed the panel looks great and the difference in hardware is indistinguishable from other kits I’ve used in the past for the finished product. The hardware fits the boards with no issue and I tested it with 5x6 deck boards as well as 2x4’s and 2x6’s. It’s a small cost for a good privacy panel that also allows adjustable boards and airflow, so these kits are always worth the cost of saving the time it would take to try to do adjustable louvers without such a kit. ... show more
