He has always had a natural hand eye coordination when at the plate, and having the reach this bat’s length provided beyond his previous 28” bat opened up those pitches on the outside edge that he likes so much. Such a pure sound upon contact, and oh how they launch off that sweet spot. This bat, Louisville Slugger Legacy LTE Mix, split about 8 inches up the handle after six uses over a 50 day period. The bat was only used for hitting baseballs by a 12 year old and no one else. The return window was 30 days so I was not even able to return the product.

As a kid growing up I always used a Louisville Slugger bat, At 69 and still playing and going through Maple bats, The original Louisville Slugger still seems the best to me.

I really like the idea that there are wood bats out there that are lighter to swing and don't break right away. The fact is, you can buy the cheap $40 Louisville Sluggers at the local Dick's sporting goods and you will get a 33 inch bat that is between 23 and about 31 ounces (i.e., drop -10 to -2). Bring your postal scale with you to the store and see for yourself. I love the lighter bats because I have better control and make better contact against faster pitches - it comes at a price of giving up the long ball, but that's ok. I'm more than happy to hit line drives over the infielders, and if the pitches are slow, I use a heavier bat. But if you do find a -8 or lighter bat, it's going to break. Don't even think about bringing it to the cages because it will almost certainly break. ... so with all that in mind, I was thrilled to find this Slugger Legacy LTE model of bat on Amazon. I ordered a 32 inch and a 33 inch. They both arrived in a few days as promised. The 32 is about 24 ounces (-8) and it's been great so far. My first day using it, I went 4 for 5 and was very happy. I haven't hit as well with it since then, but I haven't broken it either, after probably 25 total at bats with it. Virtually every at bat I hit the ball somewhere... probably make contact at least twice per at bat, on average. So that bat gets an A+ ... when it breaks (not IF, but WHEN), I will miss it, but I can't expect any more from it. Now for the 33 bat. The first one showed up, and not only was it not drop -5 or lighter, but it was about 30.5 ounces, drop -2.5. Most wood bats are drop -3, so I returned it to Amazon in exchange for another 33 inch, pointing out that the bat did NOT meet the advertised specifications. For all I know it was a good bat, I never even swung it, but I don't need another -3 bat. So I got the new bat, and it also was a little heavier than advertised... it was 28.5 oz, making it a drop -4.5. Close enough. It had a noticeably more balanced swing than a -3, but unsurprisingly not a huge difference from a -3. I took it out to the field and I think it cracked on the second at bat. I tried a little glue and tape, but it didn't work. It was unusable. So I attempted to get that one exchanged for another 33 and Amazon said no way. The did allow me to return it, but they have yet to issue me a refund and it's been about 6 weeks. I actually physically returned both 33's on the same day (within the return window they allowed), and they did issue me the credit for the heavier one, but now I'm going to have to pursue them for my other refund. Bottom line, 3 stars seems fair. If I don't get my second refund, I'm probably going to have to go with only 2 stars. Basically, I only got one of these bats for the price of 2 at that point. But I'm hopeful that Amazon will quit dragging their feet. I would definitely order another 33 if it turns out as good as that 32. I'd rather have the extra inch for those outside pitches and bigger barrel. ... show more
