  • Nice upgrade over no name
Size: Large Color: Dark Night
This is only my second pair of bike shorts and they are a nice upgrade over the cheaper no name shorts I have been wearing. Looking to upgrade, I actually purchased three different brands of shorts to try, and kept these as the best of the three. The padding in these is somewhat thinner and more flexible than in my cheaper pair. That is a big advantage to me as I find them more comfortable on the ride. I usually wear size 34 pants and a size Large here just fits. I do find the material in the legs is snug, with a bit more compression than I’m used to, but not so much to be irritating. That is, the legs are tight but not too tight. Too soon to say how they’ll hold up but the material and construction both appear to be high quality. ... show more

  • Wasn't sure about foam padding versus gel but these feel great
Size: Medium Color: Black
I normally get Louis Garneau gel shorts of various types but I needed another pair, due to wear on my older pairs, and decided to get this version with the foam instead of gel as ratings were good and quality was mentioned as being good. The material is great quality as you would expect with Louis Garneau, and they fit perfectly according to the size designation. Good compression where needed and not too tight in places where it isn't needed. The legs seemed a bit long compared to my other Louis Garneau and other manufacturer's bike shorts, but once they are on I believe that while they may be slightly longer they are within what I consider just fine, and I may tug them up a bit when fitting them on. Design is very nice and they look great. The padding seems good quality and just right - not too thick and not too thin. They are very comfortable and riding medium distance are very comfortable, even when riding hard or hill-climbing. But for longer and especially longer harder rides the foam over the gel padding seems to be something that I start noticing as not quite as comfortable. It's not bad but it is noticeable for longer and harder rides that I would like the gel over the older style foam. Not bad, but definitely noticeable for me. Good value for the money otherwise. ... show more

  • I really like these
Size: Medium Color: Black
I originally bought a pair of these in an "emergency" when I realized I had forgotten my bike shorts on a trip. I dashed into a bike store and bought these because that's what they had. That was actually a couple of years ago and over that time, as I wore my various different pairs of shorts, I realized that I liked these best. So, I bought this pair here (kind of worrying that they would be different somehow). Nope. Same great comfort, fit, and function. Obviously, everyone has different likes and dislikes when it comes to bike shorts but I think these have the right combination of padding - not too much and not too little. ... show more

  • Great Fit!
Size: X-Large Color: Black
These are great bike shorts. Compare with other shorts that are over twice cost and you'll see that that these are just as good! Great even!

  • Good fit comfortable
Size: X-Large Color: Black
I ride 2500-3000 miles a year outside. These shorts have good fit, good comfort and the price is pretty good.

  • Best shorts for this price point
Size: X-Large Color: Black
PROS: What I like about these is that the chamois coverage in the rear is a bit wider than what I previously was wearing and works better with a wider saddle like the Specialized Power. I don't have to worry seams rubbing against the saddle and then rubbing against me. I've been using them for a couple weeks now on an indoor trainer logging between 70-90 miles each week and they've held up and are very comfortable. The Chamois isn't too thick or thin, they feel plenty breathable and look pretty good too with nice lines to them. COMPARISON: I used to wear pearl izumi shorts at the same price point and there is no comparison. These are hands down a much better short. ... show more

  • There are better options
Size: Medium Color: Black
I'm an avid cyclist and have been wearing bicycle shorts for longer than I'd care to admit. I've had some great pairs as well as some low-quality pairs; despite the recommendations that I've read I'd grade these as squarely average. The fabric is pretty good but the compression and elastic isn't as strong as I would expect; the pad is decent; but where they really fall down is the cut of the waistband. The front, or rise, of the shorts is way too high, you'll find these go up and possibly past your navel which is less than ideal. A better pair of shorts will have a lower rise in the front so that when you lean forward on the bike you don't feel any binding. Its this fit that marks them as average at best. Personally, I'd suggest saving your money and getting a pair of Pealizumi shorts. Sometimes you get what you pay for. Finally, in terms of fit - I'm 6'2" and 175lbs and consistently wear a medium in cycling shorts. These were the right size, just the wrong cut so they were returned. ... show more

  • Good pair of shorts for longer rides
Size: Medium Color: Black
I bought these for RAGBRAI this year and they did very well. I used Chamois Butter as well, but I didn't have any chafing over the 7 day ride despite not being the most practiced rider. I also liked that they weren't flashy about the brand. They were a bit longer than I expected, but overall comfortable shorts that work well with a variety of jerseys and tops. ... show more
