    • Not Very Durable
This would be a handsome bookcase if it stayed new-looking, but it doesn't. The box arrived pretty beat up by UPS. The contents had shifted inside, and the packing materials were not sufficient to protect everything, so there were a few scratches and one chip in the veneer already. The assembly instructions are hard to follow (e.g., "insert 8 screws", without telling you which of the 20+ holes they go in). The 2 middle shelves require metal brackets to hold them up, but the box only had enough brackets for 1 shelf. Turns out they would not fit in the holes anyway (even when hammered in), so I found some bolts that work and put it together that way. It says to lay bookcase on front, then screw in the back panel, but doing so left scratches on the front (the wood is very soft). Putting a blanket or towel on the floor first would help. So the bookcase is "new" but already looks beat up. Not a very good value for the money. If it weren't so much work to dis-assemble and re-package, I'd return it! ... show more

    • Good quality, but minimalist instructions..
Book case is heavy; I suggest you assemble near its prospective location. Signature was required on delivery and I got no notification. Assembly plans are minimalist. Look closely at the diagram and check for hole configuaration to find top and bottom panels. They could have been marked with a paper sticker. One instruction that was not stressed was the use of the locking nuts to hold the pieces firmly. Good quality veneer, and all parts came. Does the job. Should have gotten more shelves because with the 3 shelf unit you are limited with taller books.

    • Shelves sag
This is a very attractive book case, and was easy to assemble. However, putting standard hardcover books on the shelves cause them to bow - pretty disappointing. I've had to rearrange my books completely without order to ensure the shelves don't sag - and have left the center area open so there is no weight there. Now it looks decent, but I would never have purchased if I had known. ... show more
