This is one super bright light. It is so bright that it also lights up the rear of my Jeep and the ground around the back end. Anyone will be able to see this from a mile away! I have a very custom Jeep so the installation was tricky for me since I have custom made rear panels and the old existing plate holder was removed this casing me to have to drill a hole into my panel for this to install and then connect to my wiring. There were no instructions included but if you know how to do basic wiring then this will be a snap for you. There are two leads on the light one is for ground and the other is for a positive terminal. This could have been possibly better explained however, honestly if you do not know how to do basic wiring then this probably would be better served for you to take it to someone who does to connect the wiring. The light itself is made of plastic so do not overtighten or you may crack or break it but it did line up with the existing plate screw holes to install easily. ... show more

This light was not so simple to install. For me anyways. I had to create a new wire to attach to the passenger side tail light wires and was not an easy task. I have a 2013 Wrangler Jku and the wiring changes colors from brake lights to tail light so having a circuit tester helped me locate the wire I needed to connect. Also, not nearly enough wire. I had to solder the connection after I wired it. It took me an hour to install. However, once the light is in it’s nice and bright and does the job. Inexpensive way to add a new plate light. Very thin wiring. Does not look water tight so I caulked the seams before I installed. Can't really expect much more for the price. We'll see how long it lasts. UPDATE: had installed less than 2 months and half the Leds are out. Not happy. Poor quality.

It was easy to install, and it is about as bright as the 'sun' at least that is what the Eureka, Ca. Police Officer stated as the reason for pulling me over; as a matter of fact, I only had the light for about before being pulled over the first time. Then about 3 weeks later, I became irritated with the frequency with which I was being pulled over, and even though I never received a ticket; it appeared the light provided the excuse for pulling me over so the officer could go fishing; the light was just the bait since the Califonia vehicle code lacks any such reference to "license plate light too bright" nor "License plate light too dim." Hence, it appears to be up to the individual Officer to determine what is "just right." Or is that skin? ... show more

This is very bright. To be honest, way too bright. If you need another reverse light that stays on all the time, then this is it! But the plastic is very easily damaged. When I tightened the mounting bolts down the plastic cracked around the mounting holes. The FIRST time I went off-road in my Jeep, the plastic cover for the LED lights just fell off. Only good thing is that so far, the LED light strip continues to work. ... show more

My 2004 Infiniti G35 failed state inspection due to rear license plate light bracket eroded/broke so the light was dangling. Instead of getting a new bracket from the dealership which will cost about $90, I decided to replace it with this, which screw on-top of the license plate. Installation was easy and took less than 10 minutes. All I had to do was to remove the existing light harness, and connect the black and red wires from this product directly into the existing wiring.
