  • Way better than expected!
Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
This is a surprisingly fun toy. The colors are vibrant, the popping sound is audible but not annoying or nerve grating and the size and weight of the toy is perfect for your typical 18 month/2 year old and possibly beyond. My son is a fairly average 19 month old and he thinks this toy is great fun. I believe this was designed for indoor use. My son likes to pretend the carpet is grass and zoom around cutting. He's a little young to understand the concept of the gas can, but as the only removable part, I am happy it's not small enough to be easily lost. We use the gas can to encourage pretend play. The lever and dial both make satisfying clicks when twisted or flipped, adding to the features on this push toy. The greatest thing about this toy besides being plastic (easy to wipe down) is NO batteries! All the pops, clicks and rolling are fully mechanized by the child. Good, inexpensive, sturdy fun. I highly recommend this as a gift or purchase for your own little one! ... show more

  • Great for 3 year olds!
Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
I purchased this (two actually, for twins) for my 3 1/2 boys for Easter. They loved playing with a really dilapidated old plastic one from my parents, which needed to get thrown out. I was unsure of paying so much for a little toy lawn mower, but the quality seems worth it. My boys love the popping noise the mower makes as they push it. The pull thing to "start" the motor turned out to be a big hit. And they'll stop in the middle of following their daddy just to twist and click the knobs on the handle. I thought they would look right past those, because they're more for younger kids. Wrong! Finally, the gas can is a great addition. It sits in place with some tension, so in theory it wouldn't fall off while being used....Assuming the user wishes to leave it in place. My boys never care enough to leave it on there. But its bright red color makes it very noticeable on our garage floor whenever they do decide to fill up their tanks! All in all, this is a great toy, and the price point does fit the quality. My 3 1/2 year old boys love it. Heck, our 9 and 7 year old neighbors love playing with it. You won't be disappointed. ... show more

  • Just like the real thing!
Product Packaging: Frustration-Free Packaging
We purchased this mower for my 22 month old son, who loves to watch us mow the lawn. I was worried that he would still prefer our real lawnmower in lieu of this toy (as most kids frequently do), but we were delighted to see otherwise. The mower arrived in the frustration free packaging (great for the environment as well) and was a simple install (all you have to do is click in the handlebars). My son then promptly proceeded to push the mower around for the rest of the day. Great features include the little gas tank (looks just like the real ones!), a open and close cap for the gas tank, a little pull for a lawnmower start up sound and keys and knobs that turn and click. It also has the popper in the middle that makes the pop sounds when you push it. Overall, this is a wonderful kid version of the lawnmower. Little Tikes did a great job with this one. It's well priced and such an awesome toy for the little lawnmower loving kid! ... show more

  • Fun toy for toddlers
Product Packaging: Frustration-Free Packaging
My son got this for his first birthday. He wasn’t quite able to push it by himself then, but he really liked the buttons, the gas tank, and the pull string that “starts” the mower. Now at 18 months, he loves pushing it around the house and in the back yard. It’s a great product. My only warning is that a toddler really has to be able to walk unassisted before being able to push this on their own. It’s not at all designed to be a walker. If a kid leans on it for support it will topple over. Pros: Cute design Fun for kids to push Easy to maneuver Makes a fun popping noise when pushed The “engine start” string is fun and makes a great noise Fun buttons and levers to play with Cute little gas tank Cons: Not easy to push if not a skilled walker Would definitely buy again ... show more

  • Specs and Details About this Nice Mower. Please Note: This is NOT to use as a walker for a child learning to walk.
Product Packaging: Frustration-Free Packaging
Wheels are hard plastic 4 inches in diameter. The top of the handle is 20 1/4 inches from the floor. So if you want to know if it's a good size for your child, have him hold his hands in front of him 20 inches above the ground and you will know. Made in China. We purchased the one in "frustration-free" packaging and we were happy with that. We just opened a brown box, and removed the items. No clear plastic shells or plastic straps to cut through, and no wires to untwist. It comes in a plain brown box that says Little Tikes in the corner on one side and Gas 'n Go Mower in the corner of the other side of the box, along with some contact information for Little Tikes. So if your child sees it arrive, he will have no idea what's inside unless he can read. It was very simple to put together - pop a few things into place, no tools required. The mower has several fun features for child: Up on the handle there is a plastic key that really turns but, fortunately, does not come off. So it won't get lost. There is a little handle that goes up and down (throttle?). It has a pull cord like a real lawn mower that makes a revving noise when you pull it, like the mower is really starting up. Of course, the revving noise does not continue once the cord retracts into the mower. But it sounds great for a few seconds, as though the child is really starting the mower. (This mower takes no batteries, and it is NOT a bubble blower. There are other mowers that blow bubbles, but his Daddy's mower doesn't blow bubbles, so we weren't looking for a child's mower to blow bubbles.) It has a little red gas can that sits snugly on the back of the mower in an indentation. There is a screw cap to open and "fill" the tank from the gas can. The cap is attached with a strip of plastic so it won't get lost, and takes only half a turn to open. (It is not a real tank, by the way, and would not actually hold liquid. There's just barely enough space in it to insert the nozzle of the pretend gas can. All in all, this mower is pretty realistic looking EXCEPT for the circular area on top that holds 8 very small colored balls under a clear plastic dome. (Think of the push popper toys on a handle where balls pop up and down making lots of noise.) Fortunately, this mower does NOT make that popping noise. The balls are very small and there are only 8 of them. The clear dome is not high and the balls barely pop up. What actually makes noise is this: There is a round white disk the balls are sitting on. Every time the wheels go around, that disk comes up just a little, so the sound the lawn mower will make as it is being pushed is more of a clickity clacking noise - not NEARLY as loud nor as annoying as those poppers on a stick. The balls did pop up just a little, but the sound was hardly noticeable. The clickity clack noise did not bother me at all, though it might after an hour of use!!! This mower has a lot of fun features to keep a child's interest. We bought this for a child who will soon be learning to walk. We thought he could use it as a "walker" to help him learn to walk. NOT SO. He immediately stood up and took hold of the handle, but it would not support him. As soon as he started to take a step, it started tipping over backwards, causing him to SIT quickly. He tried - and gave up - 3 times. It has a "back splash" on it that perhaps is supposed to keep it from tipping backwards, but it is totally ineffective with a pre-walking child who is using the mower to support himself as he learns to walk. This was a big disappointment, but since it says in the Product Information that it is for 18 month olds, I can't subtract a star for it. However, it also says in the Product Information that it is for children up to age 15 - yep I checked that three times. So I was hoping the beginning age was "off" just as the ending age is. (Amazon needs to correct that!) Bottom line, it is good for a child who is steady on his feet and already walking so he does not need the mower for support. I subtracted one star because it is hard to push in THICK grass, such as our floratam (St. Augustine). Even if the grass is fairly low (which it isn't if it needs mowed), the mower doesn't push through thick grass easily because it sits too low to the ground and the back splash thing also drags. We wanted this mower so the child could be outdoors mowing while his Daddy mows (on the opposite side of the yard from the real mower of course). "Mowing" the driveway just isn't the same. But we will still keep it for him to use later after he IS walking. It's well worth the $15 we paid for it, but I do wish it were raised a little more off the ground so it would be easier to push in thick grass and uneven ground. ... show more
