In my opinion, especially on GDI engines like the one in my 2014 passat, it is worth a try. My car consumed a lot of oil. Much more than the one quart per 1000 miles that Volkswagen states is normal. I added this before the oil change, then let the car idle for the full 15 minutes. My oil was pretty dark, when I drained it. What I have noticed since is the oil consumption is way down. In fact, I haven't added any in the 3 weeks since the change. Normally, I would have to top it off. My oil is much cleaner on the dipstick. Before, after an oil change, my new oil looked dirty right away. This product is supposed to clean the carbon off of your oil rings on your pistons, which can lead to loss of performance, oil consumption and poorer fuel economy. I've seen improvements in all.

Used as directed in my 2000 Silverado with 296,800 miles on the original unmolested 5.3l engine. The engine has been well maintained and runs great, consumes no oil but has some lifter noise at startup for a couple minutes. I was advised by a well respected mechanic to use this product and flush it to see if it’s help this and it did. I was at 1400 miles since the last oil change and on the dipstick it was still brown tinted about like tea. I added the product to it at operating temperature and let it idle for 20 minutes then drained it. It looked like black ink and was considerably higher viscosity than the fresh 5w30. I replaced the filter and topped it off with fresh 5w30, let it cool down overnight and this morning I cranked it and low and behold no lifter noise whatsoever. Its never run more smoothly at an idle either. I’m impressed. Oil pressure is up slightly from what it had been. I’m ordering a few more cans for the other vehicles at my house.

I used this on a 2016 Kia Forte5 with 126,000 miles on it. The car has always had an oil change every 5,000 miles and have used Kia oil filters with Pennzoil Platinum 5w-20 oil. At about 100,000 miles I noticed oil burn issues of approx. 1.5-1.7 quarts every 5,000 mile oil change. The engine has never leaked but can be loud and rough at cold start idle. I used as directed for 15 minutes at idle prior to oil change. Old oil drain was noticeably darker than without the flush. I did run an inexpensive oil filter and non-synthetic oil for about 50 miles after the flush to make sure the flush was removed from the engine and then did my normal oil change. Idle and cold start noise at engine start is better and seems to accelerate smoother with a 1 mpg change for the better. I have run the car for one oil change cycle and can say the car has burned only 1/16 - 1/8th of a quart of oil with no ill effect on the vehicle. Overall I am pleased with the product.

I used this as part of a regimen to free the oil control rings on a 2017 Toyota Camry that had suddenly started to use oil. In addition to adding to the crankcase as directed, I added a couple of teaspoons to each cylinder and hand-rotated the engine several rotations with a wrench to work it in. I repeated after a few hours. Then I ran the engine and changed the oil and filter as directed. This removed an awful lot of crud as evidenced by the oil drained out. I changed the oil and filter again after 400 miles to make sure no product remained in the engine (in case the remainder was thinning out the motor oil). Even this oil was surprisingly dark. I also changed out the PCV valve in case that was contributing to the problem (a PIA job!). The first thousand miles, the dipstick showed a drop in oil of about 1/4 qt. The next 3000 miles showed no further appreciable drop in oil level. The oil in the crankcase still looks pretty clean. You could say that I'm very pleased with this product

Strong stuff. I recommend after draining the engine flush, running the cheapest oil and filter for 10-15 minutes to rinse out remnants of the the chemical flush, before your final change to a quality filter and oil.
