  • It works!
Style: HT4-16*44
For the money, it's worth the money spent even though the recitals are a little thin. The sight picture is very clear and for my intended use, it works for me for now.

  • They have produced an excellent scope for a great price!
Style: HT6-24*44
I am in the process of building a couple of rifles for my wife and I, as prices seem to be dropping now (for the moment at least) for a lot of rifle components. Most hunter's and gun enthusiasts are always looking for "best bang for your buck" when equipping or building rifles. So, this will be the 2nd Scope that I have ordered from this new "kid-on-the-block" and also, up and coming scope-maker, DiscoveryOpt. I have to say that on both these occasions, as far as "bang-for-your-buck" goes, their Scopes have REALLY impressed me. Looking over the reviews too, I am not the only one that see's this. For this reason I am not going to "parrot" the same amazing features and benefits that this particular scope has to offer. I feel that the webpage and the excellent reviews by fellow gun enthusiasts, say all that needs to be said. However, a few things that caught my eye when looking over my new Scope, are as follows. - So many dials! Its going to take a while for me to fully appreciate just how great this scope is! LOL! - Appears lighter but larger than my previous DiscoveryOpt scope. - Love the dial adjusters. No fiddly caps to remove and then to have to replace back on again. - Priced perfectly, to appeal to most everyday buyers. - Comes with 2 mid height Scope rings and hex-key. - The quality, milled precision and finish on this scope, is superb. The one small gripe that I have with this maker however, is not the scope itself. It is their low cost scope rings, that they include with their excellent scopes - in my case, with both my scopes. To me this is like supplying an Aston Martin Vantage with budget tires. It just nibbles away from the overall great package and scope experience, that this company puts out. Fortunately, I always keep good a few spare sets of good quality scope mounts. So, for myself, not really an issue. But for some, buying those mount upgrades, may make them wince, a little. Summary Once again, DiscoveryOpt "knocks it out of the park"! Yet again, they have produced an excellent and versatile rifle-scope, for a great price. The coupons that are sometimes available, bring this great quality scope, into a price-point that most everyday buyers can now afford. I am definitely now a fan of this maker! ... show more

  • Crystal clear optics, lifetime warranty, rock-solid build, BDC reticle, FFP, I'm sold!
Style: HT4-16*44
Let me start by stating right away that for the price, this is a fantastic mid/long-range scope. This is not my first product from DISCOVERYOPT and so far, my experience was excellent, and I start to think that this will be my go-to brand for optics in the future. This time I was looking for a scope with 16x magnification to practice some mid-range shooting at 100+ ft targets at our local outdoor shooting range. Everything I wanted and needed from a 16x scope I got with this DISCOVERYOPT HT 4-16x44 scope! I still can't believe its cost is below $150 and it is on sale so you can get it for only 100 bucks! Right out of the box, it feels premium and top-quality with excellent materials, fit, and finish. The adjustment knobs are crisp and provide clear feedback. The box includes everything you need to get started - 30mm scope rings, flip-up covers, scope hood, parallax wheel, and coin batteries for illumination. End-to-end, my first impression was incredibly positive, it looks and feels like a solid well-built product. Installation is straightforward and simple if you know what you are doing. Though the included scope rings are so-so, feel cheap, I wasn't impressed at all by them, not worth using them with such a nice scope. I decided not to use them and opt for my own high-quality (and expensive) 30mm rings. Important note - make sure not to over-tighten the scope rings' screws when installing the rings, and always use a torque limiting screwdriver with torque set below 25 in-lb. I personally prefer 20 in-lb, and it always holds up just fine. Back to the scope operation. The scope turrets are large, and it's easy to grab them and rotate with your fingers. Both elevation and windage turrets work smoothly with positive “tactile” feedback and clear clicks. Numbers and markings on the turrets are large and easy to read. Unfortunately, there is no zero stop feature on this scope, but you can zero out turrets by unscrewing the turret knobs and re-positioning them at a 0 mark. Turrets have a locking mechanism that prevents them from accidental change of position - in order to adjust it, you have to pull the turret knob away from the scope, otherwise you cannot turn them. Zoom, parallax, and diopters adjustment rings - all work very smoothly and are easy to turn, which tells quite a bit about the high quality of the scope internals. The scope even comes with a parallax adjustment wheel, which is a nice touch, though the wheel is plastic and feels quite cheap. The quality of the glass is superb, the image at 16x magnification is truly clear, the contrast and color are excellent, distortions are minimal, just a small warping around the edges. Parallax adjustment is necessary for these long-range scopes and helps a lot with high magnification, and on this scope, it can be adjusted from 10 to infinity. The scope features long eye relief from 3.1" (at 4x) to 3.5" (at 16x), which is quite good. Also, there is a scope hood (or shade) included, which will be immensely helpful to have on sunny California days. The included front and rear lens caps fit perfectly on the scope tube, and the front one is a flip-up spring-loaded one. I'm not sure why the rear cap is a simple cap that you have to pull off, I'll have to replace it with a pop-up one later on. The magnification ring is located on the eyepiece and is operating smoothly, but I still recommend getting a small ring with a lever (aka throw lever) for zoom adjustments. Note that the scope is First Focal Plane (FFP), meaning the reticle with zoom as well when you zoom optics. The scope is nitrogen purged and fog proof, but I did not expect otherwise. The scope features an excellent BDC reticle, which is laser etched and crisp and closely resembles Vortex BDC reticle. Bullet Drop Compensating (BDC) reticles are essentially a series of reference points along the vertical axis of a reticle that relate to the bullet's flight path. The calculated trajectory is derived from the bullet type, muzzle velocity and typical environmental conditions. A built-in ranging feature provides everything the shooter needs to engage a distant target without having to do any complex calculations. This is why BDC reticles have been used for decades in tactical and sporting rifle scopes, where you need to get hits on targets quickly. Great choice for mid- and long-range scopes! The scope is illuminated in red only. I normally do not even consider a scope that does not have illumination because it greatly limits its usability, especially in dusk and nighttime. Note that illumination lights up the central crosshair of the reticle only. The brightness knob is not too stiff and easy to rotate. Interestingly though, the illumination module is located in a very unusual place between the middle and the eyepiece. Normally it's in the center of the tube where you have elevation and windage controls, or it's on the eyepiece tube behind the magnification ring. But in this case, it has a dedicated square “module”. Another unusual thing about the brightness control is that it has OFF position in-between every brightness level, so in order to turn it off, you don't need to rotate it full circle, just one click. And you can easily return to your previous brightness setting. Pro-tip. While the scope's reticle is fairly complex and provides guidance for elevation or windage adjustments, you still need to zero it first. Your best bet for zeroing it is to use a laser bore sighter. Just insert it into your barrel and zero your scope's crosshair on its dot. Then on a range you can finish fine-tuning your aim at 16x magnification according to the manufacturer's guidelines. This will save you tons of ammo. *** TL;DR *** Yes, I do recommend this scope to every gun enthusiast. It has truly clear optics, magnification from 4x to 16x. Eye relief is outstanding. The reticle is a highly effective BDC, which I like very much for its ability to assist with trajectory compensation. All adjustments are smooth and crisp, turrets have built-in locking mechanism, parallax wheel is very handy. And it's First Focal Plane scope!!! What else do you need? For 100 bucks it is a deal you can't beat. With a lifetime warranty and all the same features found in top-brand scopes like Vortex or Sig Sauer, this scope is an easy choice for you. While I don't like the included el-cheapo mounting right, it does not deter from giving the scope the highest rating. It's an excellent mid-range scope that will serve you well in the right setup. I give it 5-star without any doubt, outstanding budget scope. +++ Pros +++ 1) Crystal clear glass with minimal distortion. 2) First focal plane (FFP)!!! 3) Lifetime warranty!!! 4) Excellent fit and finish. 5) Variable magnification from 4x to 16x. 6) Reticle is illuminated in red. 7) Eye relief is outstanding. 8) Parallax adjustment 10-inf. 9) Highly effective BDC reticle. 10) Mounting rings included. 11) Lens covers included. 12) Scope hood is included. 13) Parallax wheel is included. --- Cons --- 1) Included scope rings are cheap, not keeping them. 2) Parallax wheel is made of plastic. 3) The manual is generic and not helpful. ... show more

  • Really nice scope for the price, pretty lightweight, solid distance and clarity
Style: HT4-16*44
This is a really nice scope, with clear vision and a good amount of eye relief (the specs say 3.5in and that seems very accurate). The reticle is just like it's pictured on the product page. I had no issue zooming in roughly 400m away. The scope is lightweight and very versatile in terms of moving it around on the mounting brackets to fit as you need it. The adjustment knobs turn nice and easily. This scope is an incredible value for the price. ... show more
