This adapter plate is the best. They look great and fit my siding perfectly. For years all the light fixtures on the outside of my house were sloppily attached to the siding. Now they all look clean and professionally installed. These plates provide you a flat surface to attach most outdoor lighting fixtures to the siding on your house and eliminate the need for massive amounts of caulking or wood trim. The mounting plate is very solid and versatile with multiple different romex punch outs and mounting holes. Very easy to install even if you can't get to the electrical box. Overall I would highly recommend this adapter to anyone looking to install light fixtures on siding or anyone looking to improve the look of their existing siding mounted light fixtures. This is a white square light mount with an integrated box. It's designed for four-inch siding. It's reasonably priced, simple to set up, and exactly what I needed. The siding mounting block was designed in Germany and is manufactured in China. It is composed of UV-rated plastic for long outdoor life and is UL registered for superior appearance and durability. The box allows for the smooth, vertical installation of light fixtures on all types of siding. Caulk should be applied around the top of the box after installing the box and your light to prevent water from infiltrating the electrical box. If your house has a matching exposure between rows, this is a perfect mounting block when attaching anything electrical. The notching on the back matches the shingles or lapstrakes and the front gives you a thin electrical box for connections, and finally gives you a perpendicular surface to mount the light or other unit. We had some outdoor lights that did not really fit the house - they were at an angle, among other problems. I used this mounting block to mount my new lights so they are plumb and the electrical box gives a place to put the wire connections. Now the lights are mounted on little "boxes" that serve to accent the light. As a standard caution, measure your intended lights and the mounting block to ensure the size is what you need. Some lights have large bases that will not fit well - you can hang the light and it will be perpendicular, but the base may go over the edge of the mounting block, allowing insects to enter the base. If you are mounting a control box (such as for a pool pump timer), this may not matter to you. As they say: Measure twice. ... show more

I goofed and had the wrong siding depth measurement. No worries though. A bit of fabrication and all is good. I like the box inside the siding adapter. The lamp I was hanging wouldn't close in the box though so another adaptation. I just put a weather box onto this adapter and connected everything through that. Worked like a charm. Sure, I know I could have traded to the correct size, but I can adapt things without having to go through that. My dumbness aside, this adapter block is a great idea and did wind up helping me properly mount a new light. ... show more
