Description

Life of the Party’s suspension goat milk soap base is the perfect way to showcase your natural botanicals as they float throughout your bar. This soap is specially formulated as a “cleansing soap” with less foaming agents to avoid pH imbalances allowing clean, healthy, soft skin. Beautiful, safe and functional handmade soaps! Melt and Pour soap making is fun and easy. Make beautiful boutique quality handmade soaps in your kitchen. Basic Melting Instructions: You’ll need some items from around the house: microwave, cutting board, glass measuring cups, kitchen knife, spoon for stirring and propping, plastic wrap, scissors, (optional-rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle) Prepare: Depending on your project, decide how much clear and/or white soap you will need. Most of our molds are between 3-4 ounces. Protect your work area. Cut desired amount of soap brick into cubes, and place into a microwave-safe measuring cup. Have your fragrance (do not use candle fragrance in body care products), color and mold ready at hand. You will want your mold cavity side up. Depending on the mold you choose, you may need to put a spoon or even grab some caps off a few soda bottles to help steady the mold. This way when you pour the soap in later it won’t run all over. . . which brings up another point, feel free to cover your work area with brown paper bags or paper towels. It is soap and cleans up with water but still, less mess is best. Color & Fragrance: Add fragrance/color soap as indicated in instructions or project sheet. We use about 6 drops of fragrance per ounce of soap but we are fragrance divas here. Colors not so much. A little goes a long way so start with one or two drops and add from there. Remember you can always mix and match colors for all kinds of shades. Microwave: You’re ready to microwave. Soap melts at a pretty low temperature and once it starts it goes quick! It can get really hot so please, please be careful. Place the microwave-safe measuring cup into microwave and heat for 30 seconds, remove and stir to break up the bigger blobs. Repeat this now in 10 and then 5 second intervals until soap is completely melted. Keep an eye on it, if it starts to bubble up, it's too hot. If this happens, turn off the microwave, let it cool, (the cup should be warm, not burning hot to the touch) remove, stir, and place back in microwave if necessary to finish the melting process. Pour & Remove: Take your melted soap and slowly pour it into a mold cavity. You want to fill it all the way to the “top” this will help you when you de-mold the soap. If you want really pretty soap, you can spritz it with alcohol to remove the bubbles. Let it cool, and be patient. It can take over an hour to dry. If it's warm to the touch, it's not ready. Once it’s cool, flip the mold over and start to apply constant, even pressure with thumbs to the backside of the mold. You may need to gently pull one side of mold away from the soap bar to break air seal. It takes a little practice, but you’ll get the hang of it. After you admire your work, go ahead and wrap it tightly in plastic wrap to keep the moisture in until you are ready to use it or gift it! Tips and Tricks: -Use rubbing alcohol to remove air bubbles, adhere layers to one another and to spray objects you want to embed in the soap to prevent air pockets. The alcohol evaporates from the heat of the soap so there is little residue. -You can re- melt soap, so save mistakes, scraps and extras. Just be mindful of the fragrances and start at 5-10 second intervals when re-melting. -Do not move molds until soap has begun to set or you can create wrinkles in your soap. If this happens, try to remove them by spraying rubbing alcohol over the wrinkle. -When layering colors, allow a layer of skin to form on the poured soap to prevent layered colors from bleeding into each other. Test the layer with the tip of your finger by gently touching the soap – it should not wiggle, should not be hot and should feel slightly firm to completely firm. -Soap can take anywhere from 30-90 minutes to harden so don’t rush it. If it is still warm to the touch it should not be un-molded yet. It also sets up quicker when you put it in the refrigerator once it solidifies. HAVE FUN AND EXPERIMENT ON YOUR OWN! Awesome, fresh, handmade beauty products made totally by you! Adult use only.

  • Soap making made easy
This was my first time "soap making", but it sounded like a fun idea to give cute handmade soaps for my co-workers' Christmas gifts. After reading several reviews and instructional websites, I chose this goats milk suspension soap base. The melt and pour idea is fabulous since you can just use the microwave to heat it up. It may be kind of cheating compared to making it from scratch, but you can't beat the effort to results payoff here. Plus, there was something satisfying about the texture as I sliced it up it for heating, too- almost like a very, very firm creamy cheese. The neutral milky scent is also refreshing. Instead of mixing in special dyes and fragrances, I added loose leaf tea, and it turned out great. (Green tea and peach tea smelled nice, but chai was my favorite.). The suspension properties of this soap base ensured I didn't just end up with a layer of tea at the bottom. Instead, it distributed fairly evenly, and the tea became a nice exfoliant throughout. Aside from the scent, people have commented about how much they love the soap, how creamy it lathers, and how clean it rinses. If you are thinking about dipping your toe in and giving soap making a shot, I definitely recommend this. ... show more

  • Not perfect, but still pretty good
The media could not be loaded. This was my second batch of melt & pour soap (my first being with Life of the Party glycerin soap base). Overall, I liked it much better than the glycerin soap, but I still found myself somewhat disappointed by some of the aspects of the base. Half of the soap base made 5 small bars (see pic). I added dried lavender buds, orange zest, and essential oils to the batch, but no other oils or butters. I figured the goats milk would make it pretty soft on the skin already. The melting process was easy, and I liked it better than glycerin because it wasn't so sticky and messy. The soap didn't congeal around the bowl, and it was easy to stir in the additions and pour it into the mold. The smell wasn't too strong, though still distinctly soapy. The major problems I have with the melt & pour are the ingredients & the texture of the bars. The stuff is loaded with sulfates & propylene glycol--things I try to avoid by making my own soaps. If I wanted all those additives in my soap, I'd just buy it at the store. In addition, the soap bars come out really soft, much softer than I like in a homemade bar. I worry that the soap with melt quickly and be used up in no time. If I had used a more complex mold, I might have destroyed the design by popping it out of the mold, since the bars were so soft. I let them cure overnight but they never hardened up. Even after a couple weeks, the bars I have left are soft. The redeeming quality is the finished bar's soft lather. It feels quite luxurious when washing! It foams up into a soft, smooth lather that I really like in a body soap bar. • Love this soap base!! Great for beginners!
Very easy to cut and melt and pour.. I got into homemade soap recently and started with easy method: melt and pour. I actually found it in local craft store but they run out of Goat Milk one. I went ahead to order on Amazon. It was amazing! - Easy to get out of the package. Just turn upside down and finger to press down. It popped out quicly and neatly. - Easy to cut into pre-lined cubes. It is very soft and any knife (prefer longer one in kitchen) can cut it easily. - Easy to melt. I use double boiler method. I just used a mixing bowl and settled in hot water on stove. (low heat). It melts evenly. - Easy to set after pouring into molds. After 30 min, the soap was almost totally solid. If your local craft store carries it, you might get a better deal such as 50% or 40% off the price with a coupon.I am very happy with this "Life of the Party Suspension Soap Base". ... show more

  • Don't know why it came untaped
Good soap, bought many times before but this time was weird that the package of the soap wasn't taped down like and package like usual. poor packaging gets a star off for me but again, the soap does work well especially Vitamin E oil.

  • Helps you in your crafty projects
This soap is wonderful. Those who wish to customize soap - without undergoing the arduous and complex process of making it from scratch - would do well to try this. It's so easy! Once you slice the soap into chunks, you can melt it in the microwave or a double boiler. You can (but do not have to) add all kinds of fun things to jazz it up: fragrances, essential oils, dyes, and even exfoliating ingredients all make awesome additions. The concoction is then poured into a mold (I use silicone molds, as they make it easy to pop the soap out once it is set) and left to firm up overnight. I have given these soaps as gifts to family, friends, and coworkers. They are always impressed at how charming and professional my creations look, but what they don't know is how easy and fun it is to make them. PS This soap lathers really well and leaves skin smooth and soft. ... show more

  • Broken packaging
I have ordered this productuct many time. The last 3 times the packaging has been broken into small pieces. This time after I melt it down and cut into my embeds I am cutting through pieces of hard plastic. I will have to melt them back down and strain to make sure there are no more sharp pieces of the plastic in there. ... show more

  • Best goats milk soap base I've used.
I've used this soap base many times to make my husband's soap. It's easy to cut, melt, and mix scents and other additives. I've used other brands because they cost slightly less, but the quality isn't there and I wasted my money. Staying with this from here on out since I only use it to make soap for home use and I can justify the cost. ... show more
