Description

You think you know what Uber and Lyft rideshare driving is like. You don't. Not until you've done 15,000 trips — late nights, last calls, airport runs at 4am, and the kinds of confessions people only make to strangers they'll never see again. This is what actually happens when people close the car door and forget you're there. The things they say. The things they do. The moments, so strange, so raw, so inspirational, or so quietly devastating that you have to remind yourself: this is real life. Once you read these stories, you'll never sit in the backseat the same way again. "Life is a trip". Read more

  • I too am a Rideshare driver/author
Format: Audiobook
I too am a Rideshare driver/author and wrote a book so I listened to this audiobook to compare my experiences. I was quite surprised by how much I related. This author has definitely met many more famous people and I enjoyed his stories!! It is worth a listen!!

  • Great series of fun stories about interesting people that travel around Dallas in an Uber
Format: Kindle
What a delightful series of short stories about Uber riders in Dallas, TX. Being from here, I knew all the locations and appreciated the interesting stories about all walks of life. Given from the perspective of a community leader (a former boy scout leader and tech executive) it captures the vibe of the various neighborhoods and suburbs that are part of the DFW metroplex. It was a great reminder that there are still good humans doing the right thing to support others. It shares some great local stories and offers a good reminder of some of the famous people who pass through as a part of their work and/or passion projects. I highly recommend for "feel good" stories in our crazy world of uncertainty. ... show more

  • Amazing Read!
Format: Kindle
After reading "Life is a Trip - Confessions of an Uber and Lyft Rideshare Driver" I realize we are all walking around in our miopic worlds. Living our lives in our own cocoon. This collection of observations and stories is delivered thru a unique perspective. The authors Drivers seat. Raw, funny, insightful and uniquely presented to open my eyes to people's challenges. I think we all know people have personal issues, but this brings a new level of awareness. My take away, be sensitive and kinder to people. You never know what burdens people are going thru. The mom with the paralyzed son. The husband whose wife has severe health challenges . You would never know. Highly recommend it. ... show more

  • This book is a trip!
Format: Kindle
When selecting an Uber driver, if you prefer the strong silent type, the author is your worst nightmare. He wants to talk to his riders - and he does! And also listens. These are great stories told with empathy and humor. Reading Gailey's stories is like getting to know your fellow Americans (and some foreigners as well!). The stories alternate between fascinating, heartbreaking, uplifting and just plain funny. Buy this book! ... show more

  • Hard to put down!
Format: Kindle
Sitting in the back seat on a ride from the airport to anywhere, I have often wondered what Uber drivers experience that could become a movie. Now I know! Peter Gailey places the reader right into the vignette - whether it is a woman leaving prison in the middle of the night, a great new business prospect, or tales of betrayal and angst, this book has it all. Each story unfolds quickly and the book is hard to put down. ... show more

  • Couldn’t put it down!
Format: Kindle
LOL funny. Knowing the author’s humor already (he’s a friend), I can tell you that it totally translates into this book. He certainly has a lot of material to work with! Gailey has done a fine job molding this clay into a relevant artifact. I bet - and hope - there’s more where that came from!

  • Humans are people, too.
Format: Kindle
Gailey reminds us to check our judgment at the door. Everyone is unique, special, and deserving of respect. Though sometimes it might take a little diligence to see it.

  • Humor and humility - great book
Format: Kindle
I bought this book because the premise, people will say anything if they dont think there are consequences, was fascinating to me. The author is unbelievealbe in his use of language and humor to describe the "charactors of life" that he encounters. Great job - a fun read. Requires no long term commitment as the stories are conccise and short. ... show more
