  • Great monitor, but maybe stay away if you don't have controlled lighting.
Style: 160Hz/Tilt/Height
This thing is about 300 nits, which is slightly dimmer than my old monitor. On HDR it gets to or maybe a bit above 400 nits. I have no complaints. For $250 a monitor of this size and quality felt like theft. My last one (a "cheap" 35" Sceptre ultrawide at 100 Hz) was nearly $400 and it wasn't as nice as this one. Yes, this panel is VA. If this is a problem for you, it is what it is. I like it, and VA ghosting has never bothered me. I'm impressed by the color quality and the rich deep black levels, as well as bright whites. Color calibration was fairly good out of the box, thought color saturation needed a bit of an increase to get it to good. All the settings are easily accessible in the menus. Image quality is good, refresh rate options are fantastic. Ghosting is minimal compared to my previous display. I've never been particularly bothered by it, but some are. But this one seems pretty good with that for a VA panel, and works great on the default (fast) response setting without much or any overshoot. Don't use the "faster" setting though, it's terrible and has very bad overshoot there. This may be a poor choice if you're not in a light controlled environment. I have smart lights scheduled based on time of day, but not everyone is doing stuff like that. In daytime use on very bright days if I have windows open and such, ambient light can be such that I need to set the brightness to 80 or even 100, but under normal circumstances I generally have it at 60. One complaint about the brightness is it seems like the backlight *is* the brightness level, there's no separate adjustment for software brightness and backlight control. Also, I've seen reviews saying the HDR sucks and don't bother. I mean, that's probably true if you're comparing it to something like a modern LG OLED TV (I have a C1, and I get it) but honestly, It looks pretty good to me. I played some Resident Evil 3 remake on this and was pleasantly surprised by how good it looked in HDR. Given it's HDR400, it's not going to win any awards, but it's fine. Overall I feel like I got more than my money's worth on this display, and barring any near future hardware failures, I'd happily buy another. ... show more

  • This monitor is incredible
Style: 160Hz/Tilt/Height
I've sampled many monitors in Electronic stores, but have never been more impressed by a monitor than the LG Ultragear. This monitor is simply the best for the price. The resolution is ideal for any game, but also great for working. I write Articles for a blog, and this monitor allows me to have three windows open at once. That way, I can have my article in Google docs, my music player, and my notes or references open at once. The stand is my favorite stand on any monitor. It is sturdy enough to sustain a cat jumping around and crawling underneath it. It's super adjustable, but not floppy. I have no problems with pixels, color accuracy, or flickering in any use. I've had it for a week and am really enjoying it. I think my eye fatigue is also lessened, and that might be because of the gradual curve and the easier contrast settings. ... show more

  • Excellent monitor
Style: 160Hz/Tilt/Height
I am extremely happy with this monitor. I just bought a new gaming PC and wanted to upgrade from my 1080p 75 hz monitor. I chose a VA and 2k as I use it for work as well and had some concerns about 4k for productivity tasks, the clarity and contrast are a massive upgrade from my 27" samsung. I am super glad I went with ultrawide it's a game changer. I had heard some people voice concerns about it being TOO wide for FPS or MOBA's. I haven't played any MOBA's lately but if anything the extra screen space is a bonus in FPS and definitely so in any other types of games. It fills my peripheral vision and creates a much more immersive experience. CON: There is just a single one, the HDR looks great but does causing some washing out in parts of the screen. As an example my menu's in Baldur's Gate 3 look super washed out with it on. I think they knew this though as they have a "HDR Effect" option that comes pretty close to actual HDR without the washout. All in all it's a fantastic monitor for 350$. To do much better you will have to spend significantly more. ... show more

  • Great Monitor for the price Great Monitor for the price
Style: 160Hz/Tilt/Height
I've been wanting an ultra wide monitor for a while now and ended up choosing this one out of three (Acer, Lg, and Lg #2). Pros: VESA COMPATIBLE (A review was saying how Vesa isn't compatible and that isn't true. I purchased a 100 x 100 Vesa mount and it works) 160 Hz Color Accuracy is great when paired with Mac Display Port PS5 supports 1440 120 HZ (Other two monitors didn't even though they they are above 120 HZ) Overall good curvature Price ($250 Black Friday) Built in speakers Cons: Black smearing is evident. I'm not 100% sure but I believe it's because it's a VA Panel. VA Panel. IPS is better for color accuracy but Amazon was asking $300 more. Monitor stand is too big. I had to purchase another one (Vesa 100 x 100 compatible). Overall: For the price and its specs, it's a great deal. I personally didn't care about the black smearing as there's not too much text in a black background anyways. If you prioritize color accuracy and refresh rate, this is a great monitor. ... show more

  • For all the second guessers....
Style: 160Hz/Tilt/Height
I was very sceptical about buying this monitor for many reasons, main one being the lack of reviews not just here, but all over the internet. it seemed as though LG wanted to keep this monitor under wraps.... but wow let me tell you i am truly impressed with this monitor. right out of the box the colours didn't need much tuning at all. My eyes may not be trained to nicer monitors, coming from a 1080 165 hz monitor, but from what the reviews i watched said, i was expecting it to be on the dimmer side at 300 nits, but its more than i could ever need. HDR is fine nothing to rave about, and a mild amount of ghosting. ive tested it on a few titles such as fortnite, call of duty, and spider man for the full ultrawide experience and i cant say i was dissatisfied at all with the colors or anything major. I got this on sale for 300 and i couldn't be happier with the purchase. For anyone whose sceptical about buying it, just do it you will be happy especially if you're coming from a 1080p monitor or below. its only day one for me, so this is a disclaimer. I will report back a few months from now to see if everything stays as great as it is. thanks for coming to my ted talk Edit: coming back after 4/5 months and I’m still just as in love with the monitor as I was on the first day. The ultra wide experience is phenomenal and I wouldn’t want it any other way. No dead pixels, no issues in general and everything is running smooth! Still would recommend buying this monitor for anyone who’s looking to get into their first ultra wide. Obviously there are better options out there, but this is perfect for the casual to heavy gamer, and I’m sure other things as well. Thanks LG for a problem free monitor at least for now ... show more

  • Cheap, big and reasonable DPI but does have some pesky motion blur
Style: 160Hz/Tilt/Height
Overall, if this can be found for less than $300 its a large inexpensive monitor whose flaws can be overlooked for the value as an OLED is about three times more expensive. Pros: - Large, approx 100DPI. Enough pixels for many users while placing less demands on the video card compared to 4K. - Supports high refresh rates up to 160 hz with Freesync/Gsync support. - No blatant dead pixels when quickly viewing the patterns on "dead pixel check" while in the dark. - Comes with a displayport cable so its ready to use with any computer/device with full sized displayport. - Immersive for games, and makes half-maximizing by dragging a window to left/right edge useful. - Much darker blacks than IPS. (If you think it looks washed out make sure the test image is actually straight black and not a gray). Dark reader makes it gray. Cons: - Ghosting very obvious using "UFO test: ghosting" especially when following the UFOs. Otherwise its there when you look for it, but it doesn't bother me enough to pay 3x more for an OLED. - Power consumption is a bit high (30w) but that comes with the size. An OLED is worse. - Has a power brick but its well shaped to avoid blocking adjacent outlet. An IEC 13C is preferable especially if used in a work environment (so all cords are interchangeable). It does mean that a failed power supply can be replaced by the user. - The last row of pixels is not dead, but has weird viewing angle. This can make the blue bar at bottom of win 10 task bar items (indicating they are open/active) not visible at a normal viewing angle for the rest of the pixels. Its almost as if the panel is curled down/away from user for last couple rows of pixels. Not an issue with the monitor itself, but would be nice if MSFT would have a 1/3 maximized shortcut. Browser or office application windows 1/2 maximized are a bit too big (with long reading lines or lots of dead black space). Full screen maximized is way too big. ... show more
