  • Great monitor
Why they put 2 HDMI inputs on this when it's meant for PC's I do not know - but the monitor itself is incredible! I came from a 27" 4k display, and don't miss the vertical pixels at all. Great for work (can see multiple windows next to each other) and gaming. I'll never go back to a non 144hz/Gsync compatible monitor ever again. HDR worked right out of the box - the adaptive backlight is a little bit gimmicky and is terrible in mostly-black settings, but just ignore that and the color is great. In any case, better than my previous display. If this really bothers you you should be looking at a FALD display or an OLED TV - I'm not interested in that. Zero problems getting high refresh rate/HDR/Gsync working together out of the box with a 1080ti via DisplayPort. Lack of a dedicated Gsync module has zero apparent downside - and there's no fan for the module, so you don't have that potential noise source. Overall, I'm super happy with the high refresh rate, color, adaptive sync, and size. ... show more

  • Brilliant for work and play
Replaced an ASUS ROG 1440p Gsync monitor. It comes calibrated pretty accurately out of the box (just turned down the brightness). Initially I was getting an occasional flicker on the screen (at the desktop and in game) and was ready to return it but I decided to try a better quality DisplayPort cable first and that completely solved the issue. I was a little hesitant to get this monitor since it's "only" Gsync Compatible and I didn't want to lose the smoothness I had in games but that fear was completely unfounded. With the new display cable, this monitor was been incredible. Multiple spreadsheets and documents open for work, movies fill the whole screen, and a fantastic gaming experience. Bright when I need it to be, great colors for my photo editing, and smooth frame rates when I play. Very happy I splurged for it! ... show more

  • Great display - had to return it, though
Fantastic display, and checks all the boxes for me: 10-bit color, +120Hz refresh rate, HDR, high-resolution, and Gsync. Has great brightness, wonderful colors, HDR in Windows 10 and supported games looked great (coming from a non-HDR display), and the size is exactly what I wanted. The LED ring on the back of the display is really bright and easy to configure, either with the built-in settings or by downloading their software. The dimming zones leave something to be desired, any pure-black loading screens in games make it quite obvious where the dimming zones are when you move your cursor around, but you never see this during gameplay or regular PC usage. Because I do photo and video editing, I use it with 10-bit color at 120Hz, instead of 8-bit color at 144Hz. Most games I ran on my RTX 2080 at max graphics/res couldn't even hit over 100fps, so that 144hz can't even be utilized until I update my GPU. Unfortunately, I ended up returning this screen because there was a single stuck, bright-green pixel near the center of the display, and because the 38" Alienware model (which has the exact same screen panel as this LG, but with a dedicated GSync module) was about $300 cheaper after tax and came with a 3-year warranty over LG's 1-year warranty. If price and warranty aren't an issue, this is one of the best display you can get. The Alienware model, sold only on Dell's website, is a better alternative however while it's still on sale. ... show more

  • This is the one you want to buy. 3 year warranty vs 1 year!
EDIT: LESS THAN A WEEK AFTER OWNING THIS MONITOR I HAVE 4 DEAD PIXELS. AVOID. So after doing a ton of research on which 38" ultrawide to buy between the LG 38gn950, LG 38gl950, LG 38gn95B-B, and the Alienware AW3821DW I ended up finding this one hidden in amazon somehow. For some reason you cannot search for this monitor inside of amazons search engine, but rather have to google for it. Price was reasonable at roughly 1500 usd, about 400 cheaper than the LG 38GN950 was at the time of writing this on amazon. This model is the EXACT same as the LG 38GN950, except it has an energy star mode (which can be turned off in the OSD!), very different retail packaging, no hardware FPS counter, and most importantly this model INCLUDES a 3 year warranty versus the 1 year warranty offered on the LG 38GN950. Apparently this is the business model, as opposed to the other one being the consumer model. Monitor arrived with 0 dead pixels and no real backlight bleed that wasn't acceptable IPS bleed. There IS some slight vignetting, but nothing you will notice unless you're looking for it specifically. Overall a VERY nice panel. If you're wondering or worried about GSYNC vs the FreeSync Premium in this model, I cannot tell a single difference between my former GSYNC monitor and this. Prior to my gynsc monitor I had another monitor that was freesync that would flicker when activating certain game elements, so I tested those same situations and found absolutely zero flickering anywhere. The Pendulum and Windmill test both pass with flying colors even sub 30 FPS due to this panels LFC freesync. In short, don't get the model with the gysnc chip, because it has an annoying fan and this one does not. BUY THIS IF YOU'RE TRYING TO DECIDE WHICH 38" TO GET! ... show more

  • Sweetspot ultrawide
This is my first ultrawide monitor, the perfect upgrade from 1444p without going for 4K. Great size and resolution for gaming and work. Beautiful panel quality and tasteful overall design. Not cheap, but worth every cent.

  • Still in awe of this monitor after 16 months of use.
I've been loving this monitor since getting it in July 2022. No dead pixels yet and it's performed perfectly since day one. The backlighting has been great too, it definitely adds to the immersion of games, music videos, etc. Very highly recommended.
