  • Very nice for most uses
I'm happy with this purchase. I had an earlier 34" LG monitor, but the flat model. It died suddenly, so I got this. I hope this lasts longer, because I'm not used to computer gear just randomly quitting. Resolution is 3440x1440 on both the old and new monitors. This is very nice compared to older monitors, but I would have paid a little more for even higher resolution, if that was an option. The color and brightness of this monitor are good, and the stand is much better than the old one. Once set up you can raise, lower, and tilt without tools. Just push it to where you want it. The tilt feature is very important on a curved monitor, because you want it aligned with your eyes. Otherwise everything will look more curved than it already is. Setup was easy. The packaging was very secure, though now I have a lot of non-recyclable foam to get rid of. I have mixed feelings about the OnScreen control software. Controlling settings with the mouse is great. This options for splitting the screen various ways can be useful. For example I sometimes divide the screen into 3 equal parts to put 3 documents or web pages side-by-side. They snap into place much more easily than doing it by hand, and if you drag the divider between sections the two parts resize at the same time. You can have up to 8 sections, in 12 different pre-set layouts. On the down side, there is sometimes a lag in the system which doesn't happen without the OnScreen software. Sometimes the layout selection window doesn't want to close. I'm on Windows 7, so your results may vary. Also (and this may be a hardware thing), the feature which allows separate inputs to be displayed together is very limited. I don't think you can display two HDMI inputs at once, for example. Who is this for? If you need to judge straight lines or proportions by eye, do NOT get this monitor. Any non-vertical line will naturally look curved on this screen. Landscape artists, architects, and some types of gamers may want to stay away. On the other hand, if you need to see a lot of detail at once, this screen is very good. The curvature makes things at the edges easier to see than on the flat screen. For text, it is very easy to get used to the curved lines. For things like schematics it is a little more distracting, but in that case you know that the straight lines are straight and that if they aren't it doesn't really matter. The mechanical designs I do require careful calculations, so I trust the math more than my eyes anyway. If you are looking at the full LG model line, good luck. There is a confusing array of features and model numbers, and cases where you can have various combinations of features, but not necessarily the ones you want most. It is not just a case of "get the best one you can afford". Be prepared to make a list of the features that matter most to you and do some compromising. For me, this monitor seems like a good choice. ... show more

  • Best monitor I've ever had!
I love this monitor. I'm not a gamer and I don't use my computer much for media, so I can't speak to any of those aspects, but I'm really pleased with this monitor for web browsing and general Windows applications. I was originally planning on getting 2 16:9 monitors, but this gives me almost as much screen real estate without the annoying center break and with half the cords. The curve is subtle - I was a little worried it would be strong enough to be distorting, but it's not. It's so subtle, I'm not sure it's actually necessary, but since I don't have a similarly sized flat monitor to compare to, that's just speculation. I was also a little worried about the stability of such a wide monitor, but LG has supplied a ROBUST and heavy stand. This thing's not moving a mm without my help, and that's lovely. I'm a forceful typer and if the screen jiggled, I'd be furious. The arc shape of the bottom of the stand is an improvement over blocky bases if you ask me, but it does project forward a bit of the screen. I have a wide (36") desk, so it's not a huge deal for me, but when I want to spread out papers/books, I do find myself cursing those ends a little. All in all, great monitor for my needs! ... show more

  • Great Monitor
I purchased the 34". I really enjoy the monitor. I think the curvature is great, it feels natural to me. The brightness is just right for my usage. The color and picture looks very good. I like the adjustable stand, though it would be nice if it could turn side-to-side. A lot of the negative reviews bug me because they are complaining about clearly advertized features. You can't buy a 60Hz WQHD monitor and then write a review that the refresh rate is too low or the resolution isn't high enough. With that said, there are a few "features" of the monitor that are more gimmicks than features. Enabling the 1ms response time caused weird ghosting issues. The "Super Resolution" is just some filter that looks odd. The On Screen Control/Dual control software is garbage. I sort of expected this going in, and none of these were important features to me, but it bugs me that they advertise those gimmicky features. ... show more

  • So much better than I expected. Fantastic, actually.
I've only been using this monitor for a month. I'm so pleased I ordered this model. It connected immediately to my old 2014 lightweight laptop. Setting it up was a breeze. The screen clarity is wonderful. Glare/reflections are not a problem. The sound is quite good. The onscreen app to control the monitor is such a boon - not having to fiddle with invisible buttons somewhere on the bottom edge. The onscreen app allows you to set how the windows on the screen will lay out, or not lay out as you wish. There is a small toggle switch in the center of the bottom edge which is also volume control, which is especially handy. For a big screen, it fits easily on my medium sized desk, because the stand is so slim and unobtrusive, it doesn't seem that it's taking up any space. Resolution is 3440x1440 which allows me to set up to "side-by-side" windows easily big enough and sharp enough to read everything clearly. I'm not a gamer so I can't say what it would be like for gaming. ... show more

  • Came defective. Blue Lines down the middle. Returning.
It overall looks like a good monitor, but mine came defective. I've attatched a photo of it. It was on sale for $490 when I bought it. Wondering if they were trying to get rid of defective stock. Maybe I won't buy "new" monitors that have been on the market for 3 or 4 years, probably sitting in a warehouse anymore, especially from LG. The speakers sorta sounded ok. ... show more

  • Epic!
Love this curve monitor for work at home. I usually have a lot of apps open and the multiplexing utility works well. Excellent resolution for my graphics software. Be sure you have a powerful video card to drive this beauty!
