Description

IMPECCABLE COLOR More accurate color and a broader contrast ratio combine to deliver truly high-end picture quality. High dynamic range (HDR) makes bright and dark portions of the image even more so, while Nano IPS controls color better, covering 98% of the DCI-P3 color space with support for 1.07 billion colors, the digital film industry standard, 35% larger than the sRGB 100%. Nanometer-sized particles on the screen's LED absorb excess light wavelengths, realizing richer color expression that accurately reproduces the content, from actual images and videos to CG. CLEARER and BRIGHTER HDR Discover a more lifelike picture with high dynamic range, which provides bolder contrast between the brightest and darkest areas of the screen. This VESA Certified HDR 600 monitor has been rated to deliver impressive peak luminance of 600 nits for undeniably spectacular highlights. FOR CONTENT CREATORS Multitaskers can now work in a generous 5:9 area while simultaneously viewing a 16:9 4K video on the same screen. The 5K2K 21:9 display of the 34WK95U offers 5120 x 2160 resolution optimized for video editors, programmers and developers, with convenient single-cable Thunderbolt 3 connectivity. Using the 178° horizontal and vertical viewing angles, it is possible to watch content from virtually any position. This display has one Thunderbolt 3 / USB Type-C port , one DisplayPort port, and two HDMI. If you'd like to take advantage of this display's USB capabilities, there is one USB Type-B port and two Type-A ports and audio can be output using the dual integrated 5W stereo speakers or 3.5mm headphone jack. It features a vertical tilt of -5 to 15° and a height adjustment of 4.3". Thunderbolt 3 With a single cable for video, audio, and data transfers, as well as simultaneous laptop charging up to 85W, this versatile and compact port enables 40 Gb/s data transfers and high-bandwidth video, including a 4K signal to two different screens, or 5K/60 fps to a single screen.

  • Big productivity monitor
Size: 39.7 inches
To start, this monitor is BIG. Physically imposing. My previous monitor, a LG 34WP65C-B, had the same resolution (5120x2160) and felt big at the time. This monitor has the same resolution at a larger physical size, so the PPI (pixel per inch) drops a bit (~140 PPI vs ~160 PPI), but it’s not as noticeable. It does have one big benefit to me: text is slightly bigger so it’s easier on my aging eyes. I do find myself moving my head more to see the corners, but it’s not bad. The curvature of the screen helps (the 34WP65C-B is flat), and it’s “immersive” enough. The screen brightness is enough for me, though at the highest brightness, it’s definitely dimmer than my other monitors. But, I turn brightness down anyway, and my room is not too bright, so it works for me. Connectivity wise, it has TB4 (along with DisplayPort and HDMI), along with 2 USB-A. I got my webcam connected to the monitor, and it all goes to my laptop via TB4. Sleep/wake, it all works fine. For those with an Apple device, be warned that you’ll probably need the M1 Pro/Max to get a decent HDPI scaling (like 3840x1620 scaled). When I tried a plain M1 Mac Mini, it only gave the lower resolutions (~1200 vertical). For giggles, I hooked up my Nintendo Switch for some gaming and it’s ok. Gaming is not my primary use for it, but it’ll do. Overall, I’m very happy with the purchase. Good resolution, good size, and good functionality. Just be sure you got a large enough desk to hold it, but I think it’s a keeper. ... show more

  • Incredible monitor for a software developer
Size: 39.7 inches
I never write reviews but I'm so happy with this monitor I couldn't avoid it. I'm a software developer and the real estate is perfect for having your coding editor on one side and your references on the other. Working on a web app while looking at DevTools full-length is incredible. I recently had to use Excel and wow, what a joy. Some people complained about the brightness, which had me worried, but for me it's perfect, maybe because I'm not a gamer. I even had to dim it down. I also really like the joystick for changing preferences. I've always hated the many buttons you have to press on most monitors to change them. They did away with that here. The joystick allows you to very intuitively move around the menu and with a single button you select and adjust moving left or right. I couldn't be happier! ... show more

  • Be sure to set DisplayPort to 1.4 -- EVEN IF YOU'RE USING THUNDERBOLT
Size: 34 inches
This monitor is game changing. You'll love it. Here's my only quibble, and it's minor (but still drove me crazy). If you connect the included USB-C cable to a Mac -- in my case I've tried it with a 6 month old M1 MacBook Air and an M2 Pro Mac Mini -- you will not see the top resolutions supported without taking this extra step. I even bought a new, top-of-the-line USB-C cable that I thought might fix the problem. Nope. What did work was changing the DisplayPort version in the monitor's settings to 1.4. This hadn't occurred to me because I WASN'T USING DISPLAYPORT. However, that did the trick. Now I can access every resolution, right up to the max, and still get power to the Mac(s) and plug in a keyboard and mouse to the back of the monitor. In short, it works like a charm. I'd give the monitor 5 stars but, setting the default DisplayPort version to something other than the highest setting (1.2 instead of 1.4) and not providing adequate notice that you need to switch that up if you want to get the most out of your USB-C cable drove me crazy for a couple of days. The documentation ought to state very clearly: "Note, if you want to access the full 5120x2160 resolution over Thunderbolt, you must change the DisplayPort setting to version 1.4. You might not think this would have any effect because, well, DisplayPort and Thunderbolt are different things, but you'd be wrong." ... show more

  • Burning smell + dead monitor after 4 months of use. Get two 4K monitors instead. (LG won't replace)
Size: 34 inches
11pm, computer's off but monitor's plugged in / on; I smell strange burning, so I run to kitchen to see if I left stove on (no). Go to sleep thinking it just have been in my head. Next morning I power on computer and monitor's flickering like a strobe light. While trying to troubleshoot, I touch the left side and it's extremely hot to the touch. That's when I remember the burning smell from night before, and Google search reveals that the burning smell + malfunction does sometimes happen when monitors crap out. Before dying, it was indeed a beautiful monitor, no complaints. But dying after 4 months of light use simply CAN'T HAPPEN. TLDR: I would highly, HIGHLY recommend getting 2 x 4k monitors instead of this 5k/2k. You'll spend 60% LESS, and get significantly MORE resolution/screen real estate. And if one ever craps out you can replace it for $250. Seriously wish I had gone that route myself. RETURN HEADACHES -- LG is refusing to repair or replace this; full disclosure this is MY FAULT for waiting too long to report this to them...I don't have any excuse other than I thought the monitor would be under warranty for min 3 years. All you / they have is my word that this crapped out after 4 months of VERY LIGHT use. Was nonetheless hoping that because it was an obvious manufacturing defect (burning smell + pop > completely dead screen), they would nonetheless offer a reasonable resolution like a refurbished unit, but they're refusing to do anything for me. My fault on that front, so all I can do is to post this review suggesting to avoid this item at all costs as quality control is obviously lacking. ... show more
