  • This standing arm mount is the best thing since sliced bread
When I was browsing for monitors I focused on the specs like the panel type, resolution, etc. I didn't really care about this monitor because it seemed as something you'd have in an office. But then I realized that most of the monitors that matched my requirements had severe constraints when it comes to vertical, horizontal or angle positioning. That's a big ergonomic issue. More importantly, I realized that these features are being charged as something premium. As in, most of the cheaper monitors could not be adjusted vertically, etc. Then I started thinking about this monitor again and quickly realized how valuable it is to have all this flexibility. I double checked the other specs and ordered it. It was the best decision ever. I just cannot believe how much positioning flexibility this thing has. Nor how cleverly designed is the foot of the mount. There's just so much flexibility all around, it's ridiculous. This thing is big. My desk is narrow so I have too sit bit further away, otherwise this monitor is too close. If mounted on the back side of a standard sized desk it should be perfect. But at the same time it saves so much space on my desk, I cannot imagine how much space would the same size monitor take if it had the conventional stand. The image quality is decent. It is excellent in low light and for darker colors. One issue I have is with the bright white backgrounds, at close range the panel has the effect of being "dirty" or "dusty". This is somewhat reduced when choosing Reader picture mode. Software wise, the options are more or less the same I see on all other monitors. Another thing I do not quite like and could be improved is how the energy saving mode is executed. Once you set the preferred duration, the mode will show a timer 5 minutes before engaging, no matter what, even if I'm actively using the computer. The only way to interrupt the countdown is to press the physical button and make the notification go away. I don't know if this can be changed in software but the energy mode should be started only if the computer itself is locked or in sleep. Oh, and speaking about the physical button - it is a joystick type button on the bottom, below the LG logo. I read some reviews saying they were not able to find it, getting frustrated, etc. Honestly, if I wasn't able to find this one button down there, I would keep it to myself and would not broadcast that to the world if you know what I mean! ... show more

  • 27" QHD Monitor: First time buying an LG monitor (and monitor purchase) -- tiny issue
TLDR: REview is mainly about the quality control of the screen. This monitor is great in terms of USB-C connection, stability with the ergo arm, and picture quality is nice. Ordered May 2 2021 -- found a dead pixel May 30, 2021, asked for a replacement -- will update when that arrives around June 5-8. I ordered this 27" QHD monitor on 5/2/2021 and it arrived around 5/9/2021. I set it up a few days later on 5/11/2021 and used it sparingly between then to 5/30/2021. On 5/30/2021, I forgot to shut down my monitor for a few hours of the day and when I returned in the evening to use it, there was a dead pixel present on the screen. I did not want to attempt any DIY fixes and was able to consult with customer service to get a replacement monitor instead. I will update this when that replacement arrives. I'm a bit disappointed that after less than 3 weeks of use, there's already a dead pixel from the one time I forgot to turn off the monitor. I think getting a warranty on this is a good choice for any new customer to LG. This seems to be a common issue for others too. ... show more

  • Works great with my MacBook
Haven't had any problems after 4 months of using it. The display easily connects to my macbook with a single usb-c cable that is provided with it. No connectivity/loss of connection problems so far. The display also acts like a hub. You can plug mice/keyboards/speakers into the back to use freely on the display & laptop itself. The screen for the 27" def. isn't great compared to the retina on macbooks or 4K on the 32" model, but it's good for the price point. You def. don't notice it, quite clear and bright once you start using it. ... show more

  • This is a replacement for a non-retina 27 inch display.
There are a number of features that make this screen rated this high. 1. The display arm is great and works very well. 2. The display is a replacement for a screen with similar spec not 4K. 3. The connection to my MacBook Air M1 is simply a USB-C cable. 4. The price is reasonable. If you want a higher resolution display get the more expensive 4K ERGO display. ... show more

  • Great ergo stand. Monitor is “OK”. USB C feature not useful.
Got this monitor 3-4 days and the following are my initial assessment: Pro’s - Ergo monitor - built in speakers Not so good: - initial set up of the monitor took at least 2 days where I was getting no signal message both with my Mac and Windows machine, I.e no image whatsoever. After trying so many different thing I upgraded my machine to the latest OS image and that solved the problem. I do not understand why, as my OS images were less than a year old. For example on my windows machine I had a OS release that was dated October of 2019. I ended up upgrading to October of 2020 to get the monitor working. Not sure I understand why. - after getting the image, the image with the windows mschine was reasonable out of the box. However with the MacBook Pro, tried all the picture profiles including custom with no luck. Finally the “HDR effect” picture profile gave me reasonable colors. - still the colors and text are not great but reasonable. Still not sure if I will keep the monitor. - in terms of USB-C feature it only supports up to 65 w. I need 90w for my Mac. Also the monitor does not support daisy chaining of the monitors. So for a two monitor set up you need to get a usb c dock anyway. So my point is that if you are paying a premium for usb c, it is not worthed if you need a dual monitor set up, or 87 W charging. It may be better to get a cheaper QHD monitor (around 300) and then buy a nice usb c dock. ... show more

  • Color is great after I turned off HDR
Initially when I hooked this up to my MacBook Pro with the included USB-C cable, I hated the colors. They were super saturated and I couldn’t believe how pixelated the dark colors were. I couldn’t access many of the screen settings in the monitors menu. Then, after a few days I realized that all I had to do was turn off the HDR setting on my MacBook Pro monitor preferences. Now the colors are so much better and I’m able to access all of the screen settings on the LG menu. ... show more
