Let me start off by saying I have for 10 years worn the Levis Signature Carpenter jeans. Great jeans, great fit, last along time for the type of use I use these jeans for. 60/40 split between office work and light machine work. I recently ordered the Contractor style to try as the Carpenter style fabric over the years has gotten more synthetic and less natural. I beleive the Carpenter is 89% cotton at this point and the Contractor is advertised at 100% but after having them for a few weeks I can say this is false. There is no tag on the jeans stating fabric make up and they have some stretch in them that my 501's (all cotton) do not. The fit of the Contractor is loose even looser than the Carpenter and a little longer in the leg as well. This is not a deal breaker as they are designed for boot coverage and it does that. Thye have heavy tripled stiched seams like the Carpenter which should hold up better than the standard stitch on the 501's. I would recommend these if you rlookinbg for a godd light work jean. I would like to see Levi's go back to 100% cotton on the Carpenter jeans, the elastaine they put in does not breathe in hot weather. Levi's if you read this here is what I would like to see offered. Capenter style and fit pattern, 100% cotton fabric that used to be used on the Caprenter with the pocket style of the Contractor fit. I do not need a hammer hook or a pencil pocket on my leg. ... show more

For years I worked in Lee carpenter jeans. I bought them because of the modest price since I would ruin a pair of jeans often in my work. That said, I hated how they fit. They always slid down especially when I wore a nail apron. The zipper was too short making it difficult to do one's business, if you know what I mean. I recently stumbled on to these Signature contractor jeans and they are great. They are priced comparably to the Lees and they fit at the waist and have a longer zipper. They fit like my favorite Levis 550s. I really like the reinforced pocket for my tape and the fact that it does not have a hammer loop that I seldom used but caught on everything. I bought these for my husband who works with trucks and cars as well as on physically demanding jobs. These pants have deep pockets for his phone and wallet and the loose fit doesn’t constrict movement. Pretty good option for everyday wear.
