I wore Levi's all through childhood and college. I had noticed in the last few years the quality was getting lower. I was a little hessitatant to buy new jeans, but my other pair of light wash Levi's ripped on the knee so I wanted a new pair. Made this purchase and within 2 weeks of wearing them, the sewing on both front pockets has already come out and random bits of stitching are coming out on the pant legs even. I also noticed the material is thinner than my older pairs of Levis too which is a shame because I always liked that Levis would hold up for 3 or 4 years (I wear them almost daily) which was good for a pair of jeans. I hate to say it, but this was probably the last pair of Levi's I'm going to buy. The higher prices they charge for lower quality jeans isn't worth it anymore.

After 35 years of brand loyalty, I have purchased my last pair of Levis. This review is for two pairs of exchanged jeans due to the first set’s inferior quality. I have included photos to back my claims, as I am aghast at what the Levis brand has become. Manufactured in Pakistan, both pairs are garbage: thin cotton, inconsistent measurements, cheap stitching, and colorization issues are the highlights. In the pictures, I’ve laid one pair over the other, and both are the same brand, model, and color. One can easily see that the second pair under the first if a full size larger in the waist and inseam. Also, the stitching and color is vastly different. Again, these are the same jeans made in the same part of the world. It’s outrageous to keep sending bad product back to Levis only to receive even worse product in exchange. Levis is no longer a premium brand. If you desire quality jeans, you must certainly look somewhere else. I am convinced due to observing Levis’ downfall over the last decade that this brand has no desire to turn back the clock and once again offer their customers a decent product.

It seemed when I first started wearing 527's almost 15 years ago, it was a great jean - I could count on consistent sizing and they generally used quality fabric. Things have definitely changed over the years, as it seems they consistently use a VERY thin, cheap material for all their jeans, and the sizing is pretty random. After ordering a few different styles last year, I sent back the thin fabric jeans, but kept the thicker ones (the overhaul style) as they fit better and used a higher quality fabric. When I ordered the exact same jeans this year, the ones that arrived were not the same fit/fabric, but rather the same cheap, thin fabric as the different styles I sent back last year. Sadly, I can only offer two things: 1)For the price, you can surely find a better jean out there, 527's simply aren't worth it anymore. 2)If you decide to order ANY 527 styles, be prepared for a cheaply constructed jean that will potentially be a smaller than expected fit, unless you get lucky and randomly pick a style that uses better material that season. As for me, after over 20 years of predominantly choosing Levi jeans, regrettably I will no longer be a Levi's customer. No one should have to cross their fingers and hope that they receive a quality product, and after 3 years of experiencing inconsistent material and sizing, I'm done with the 527 line and Levi's as a whole.

I went to my local dept store, tried on 5-6 types of levi's and found that the 541 series in a 34" waist was the perfect fit! So, I went on Amazon to choose from their great selection since my local store only offered one color. I did not even notice that there were so many blends of cotton. After receiving 2 more pairs of 541 in the exact size I had just purchased, I found neither fit. I then realized the cotton blend difference and I learned that with a 98% cotton 541, I'm a 34" waist, when it's a 100% cotton, I'm a 35" waist, when it's 83% cotton, I'm a 33". My personal taste is that anything less than 98% cotton is too stretchy and not the traditional Levi's that I've worn for 40 years. That's why my daughter says I wear "Dad Jeans". This series fits great on my waist, plenty of room in the seat, and I can fit my phone/keys in my pockets with plenty of comfort.

This review is for 3 different colors of the Levi's 541 Jeans. I was very excited to find the 541 fit, I had never tried them on before, and generally have a hard time finding jeans that are comfortable and look fashionable (enough). These are not skinny jeans or slim fit jeans by any means, and for people looking at 541s that is probably not a reality anyway. I am 6'5 and have larger thighs and butt due to athletics and working out my entire life. I can squeeze 511s on in a 36x36, but am left with a baggy waist and thighs that are busting through the seems. For years I wore 505s, I still like them, they are comfortable and not too baggy. But, I wanted to find a pair of jeans that was a little more tapered and fashionable to be worn with a nice shirt or sport coat if need be. I tired some higher priced brands, but its hard to find a 36 inch inseam that you aren't paying over $150 for. Then I found the 541. These jeans are great, more tapered than the 505s but enough room in the seat and thigh to be comfortable. The only downside to these and the reason for 4 stars is the lack of consistency in sizing. In 505s I wear a 34x36, and I read a few reviews that said to go a size up, so my natural thought was try 36x36. I ordered 3 colors, Lake Merrit, Midnight and Rigid Dragon. I will list the sizes and thought below, because I ended up ordering 10 pairs of jeans and returning 7. Lake Merrit - more stretch and give in the waist and thigh. True to size in 505s. 36x36 WAY big, 35x36 a little roomy, 34x36 just right. Midnight - 36x36 too big, 34x36 - very tight in the thighs, 35x36 a little roomy on the waist, but way more comfortable in the thigh. Rigid Dragon - 36x36 initially felt ok- stretched alot too big, 35x36 - ordered a few of this size because one felt tiny and short, and the other ended up being just about right. went with one of the 35x36s. Overall a great product if you have an athletic build and want a more tapered fit.
