Sturdy hard back binding about the thickness of a standard paperback book. High quality paper that takes ink well. All pages numbered with an area for the date. This notebook has built in book markers, an area for a content index at the front, and a small pocket for loose papers at the back. The notebook comes with stickers to label contents. You want to know: Is it better than a moleskine? The answer is yes. The paper is thicker, more substantial, less transparent and apt to bleed through. Ink doesn’t smear as easily as a moleskine. The Leuchterm binding is also far more durable and less apt to disassemble with use. This is a higher end product and that shows; you get some value for the extra cost. The principal “negative” with Leuchterm notebooks is their size. The thicker paper and hard backed binding require more space. They are heavier and larger than a similarly-sized moleskine so less conveniently portable. ... show more

I have been using Leuchtturm1917 Master A4 Plus Squared Hardcover Notebook for several years and cannot live without them! They are my go to sketch and journal notebook. I use a wide variety of ink pens, colored pencils and markers to sketch out my ideas. The ink does saturate somewhat through to the back of the page, but I love the way that looks. The color of the paper is crispy white. These notebooks are consistently sturdy and provide excellent organization with a ribbon page marker and storage pocket in the back for photos and receipts. I used to use moleskin notebooks, but these replaced and surpassed the moleskin for art journaling purposes. Not for watercolor use. ... show more
