They carried them around, slept with them (straps off), and were constantly looking out the window at anything and everything. Reasons I chose these were: 1) The size was perfect for small hands; 2) I could get them in their favorite colors; 3) they seemed like a good value; and 4) they looked pretty indestructible, and sounded like it from reviews. These are good , but a toy ..one can see out of them and we used it for local hikes and forest school .....but do not expect a high quality product comparavle to adult binoculars ( which it doesn't claim to be ) If you have a child interested in nature and binoculars do not hesitate to buy
