Happy wife - happy life. I told my wife to pick out whatever flatware set she wanted, as our old set of hand-me-downs from the mid-70's were cheap, worn and many pieces were missing. She chose well... This beautiful set is highly polished, heavily weighted and sturdy, yet well-balanced and easy to use. The pattern is simple and not to ornate, and modern but with a nod to vintage silverware. We're especially impressed by how firm and rugged these are. They simply do not bend if used hard and they retain their shine after repeated dishwasher cycles. While there are smaller serving utensils included, this set does not include any larger serving spoons or forks. The butter knives are very heavily weighted and are sharp enough to use for cutting steak. Very high-quality. We anticipate this set lasting for several generations and are very happy with it.

Just received today. In perfect condition. Packaged like it was for sale at a brick and mortar store. Quality appears to be excellent. Weight and balance is excellent. Beautiful design - just enough decoration to enhance without being ostentatious or over the top. My only criticism: I would have preferred service for eight or ten. Twelve is a lot.

I like the simple but elegant design on this heavy weight silverware that goes with casuals dishes as well as more formal settings. It has a great sheen to it and has been used as everyday silverware and is holding up well. Am very happy with this purchase!

Lots to say about the Lenox Alcott 89 piece set of flatware. I was looking for a nice set for 12 to replace my great grandmother's set of 6 + odds and ends collected over the years. My great grandmother's set was great but it wasn't enough and the forks only had 3 tines, which wasn't everyone's preference. The Lenox Alcott are very shiny, which is different for me. I've only been accustomed to using matte flatware. But the shiny feature only makes them seem more fancy, maybe a little too fancy for me, but I'll get over it. The main reason I chose this set was because they came with 12 sporks! We use them almost every day. Did we NEED them? Probably not. But I love that we have them! There's suggestions enclosed on how to wash the flatware and since I've read hundreds of reviews about rust on stainless steel flatware, I chose to switch the dishwasher detergent we used, just to be safe. We actually did notice some rust on our old knives and assumed it was from the citrus oils in our former detergent. We never saw rust on any other piece of flatware, so I think the knives must not have been 18/10 stainless steel. But I can't be sure. The reason I mention this is because almost all the new Lenox flatware has 18/10 stamped on the back... all except the knives. That worries me. If the knives aren't 18/10, that would be disappointing. But if they are 18/10, then why don't they have an 18/10 stamp? I really can't be sure, so I've taken extra precautions and got rid of any dish washing detergent that contains citrus. Size is always a big concern. I took a bunch of pictures to compare sizes of the forks and spoons. There's 2 sizes of each. The large fork is significantly larger than the forks we've been accustomed to using. In fact, the small forks are closer in size to our old forks. So I use the small forks and my husband uses the giant forks. Both are used, so I'm happy. The spoons, however, are comparable to our old set. The knives in our old set were different from any knife I've seen in any set online. I loved them, even though they had tiny spots of rust. I knew I wasn't going to find something like that, but I made my peace with it. That being said, I do like the Lenox knives. There's nothing bad about them. The handle is solid, that's a plus. They do taper from the base of the handle to the end of the knife, which is weird to me. But I can't say whether that's a bad thing, at this time. Last thing I will mention is the weight. I'm no expert, but I feel like they're a very good weight, heavier than most. They feel really balanced. Sometimes, when traveling with the flatware on a plate, it'll fall, but that could also be placement of the flatware or clumsiness. There's also been plenty of times that the flatware stayed on the plate or bowl, in transit. I think that's all to be said. There's plenty of pictures for reference. I gave 5 stars because they really are wonderful. I've dropped them and they've never marked up. I've washed them a bunch of times and they still look perfect, brand new. Oh, and each utensil was delivered in individual plastic sleeves. So they were well protected in transit.

I won't be keeping this set, so I can't testify to durability. But first impressions are that they're very heavy (that's a good thing), not bendable, and pretty well made. The fork tine tips are a bit rough and could use a bit more polishing, but other than that, this set is well made. The handles are all really comfortable to hold, no faults there. This set looks great, too. My beef is with the spoon sizes. The teaspoons are the size of most dinner spoons, and the dinner spoons are basically serving spoons. If you love big spoons, this is your set. If Lenox sold smaller spoons separately in this series, I would've purchased those and kept the whole kit. You can see in the images the sets I've got to compare it with. The inside spoons are my current set of 20-year-old Wallace that are no longer made, so I can't replace missing pieces. The outside set is another set I ordered to try, which are the Oenida Sambre, those I really dislike the handles (sharp corners and too small). The Eastwoods dwarf both. I've been shopping for flatware for a solid month and this was the last set I tried before I just decided to bite the bullet and get the Anapolis from Liberty Tabletop. Yes, it's twice the price. But at least I won't have to compromise on fit, from, function, or having the knives rust because they're secretly not 18/10 (looking at you Mikasa). You might love these, but just beware that you're not getting a real set of teaspoons; you're getting a small and large set of dinner spoons.

Before we married, I convinced my husband to purchase a lovely set of Spode to replace the mismatched batchelor stuff he was using. Over time pieces came up missing. I’m not sure if the adult kids tossed them, or he accidentally tossed them. When I asked why he didn’t count his flatware each time he put it away, he said he had never heard of counting flatware. My momma gave him a quick explanation that it was basic housekeeping to always count flatware so if a piece is missing you can find it. She then explained this was especially important when you used real silver. Regardless, the lovely Spode needed replacement because there wasn’t enough pieces to serve eight anymore, much less twelve. I struggled to find flatware at an affordable price in stores, and knowing Oneida is a reputable brand, I searched Amazon. I chose this set specifically because it included iced teaspoons and it came with the completer set. It was also a simple pattern which was a requirement of my husband’s. I was always taught a quality knife should balance on your finger at the point where the handle meets the blade. This set passed that test. The pieces feel heavy in your hand not like you can bend them by opening a paint can, as an impromptu screwdriver, digging in the dirt or any number of things flatware was not designed to accomplish. The soup spoons are the correct size for eating from the side of the spoon rather than shoving the entire spoon in your mouth. Although, I know it is absolutely possible to shove the entire spoon in your mouth because I’ve seen it done more than once. We’ve had this set nearly a year and it’s survived our household. It will probably survive yours too. My favorite use is putting a bit of peanut butter on the end of a teaspoon with my pup’s “itchy pill” each night and watching him lick it with pure abandon. He loves peanut butter spoons!

My wife and I really like these. They look great, simple clean design and are strong. Nice extras included. We notice that the salad forks are just about the same size as the standard forks in our previous set. This set’s standard fork is big. ? The only downside (which isn’t a fault of the flatware) is that it’s a set for 12, and there are only two of us using them. I feel like we need to rotate pieces so we don’t use the same ones day after day. These were pricey, but I think worth it. We’ll probably never need to but silverware again.
