Super cool looking, complicated but detailed set. Bought it as a gift for a child around 10 years old. We had a lot of fun putting it together, but this is a collectors item/display piece, not necessarily a toy. It is somewhat fragile, and some of the pieces are easily disconnected if handled. Also, the pilot doesn’t really fit in the cockpit. Still it’s a very nice, large, faithful reproduction of the movie prop. Just keep in mind what and who it was designed for. ... show more

he LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series X-Wing Starfighter 75355 is an outstanding set and an easy 5-star recommendation for any Star Wars fan or LEGO collector. This is exactly the kind of set that the UCS line is meant for: highly detailed, beautifully designed, and incredibly satisfying to display once complete. If you are a fan of the original trilogy, this one really delivers. The first thing that stands out is how iconic the finished model looks. LEGO did a fantastic job capturing the shape and presence of the X-Wing, and it is instantly recognizable from every angle. The proportions feel right, the detailing is impressive, and the overall presentation gives it that premium collector feel. Once built, it has a strong display presence and looks excellent in a home, office, or dedicated LEGO collection. The build itself is very enjoyable. It feels advanced enough to stay interesting throughout, but not frustrating or overly repetitive. There is a real sense of progression as the model comes together, and the final result feels rewarding in a way that larger collector sets should. As with any LEGO item, the instructions were good and it was fun to build. But to be honest, I bought it mostly becasue they are planning on retiring this set.

Potential customers should know that this version of the X-Wing is not a "play set" by any means. It is fragile and somewhat flimsy. The build is fun overall but building the wings out is quite repetitive and installing them is pretty stressful as the whole model shakes while you do so. With the finished model - while it looks great - if I walk anywhere near it the wings start to shake. Another reviewer I think said it best in that this is set you build and then you display it and never touch it again. I would not say this is a very stable model. In truth I think I'd go for a smaller model that has more playability. Unlike other UCS sets the placard is PRINTED. There are only 4 stickers in the set, which is great. The closed position of the X-Wing is not perfect and it shows large gaps where the wings attach in the closed position. Overall I love the set but I wouldn't be comfortable letting someone pick it up and handle it, which I'd have no problem with with something like my Saturn V. ... show more
