There aren't many artwork LEGO sets. If you're trying to decide between Starry Night and the Great Wave sets (the two big, currents ones), they each have their strengths, but Starry Night has the more 3D feel to it that makes it a great display set (and a fun build). That LEGO added in the Van Gogh minifig with a paint brush as if he were painting the starry night as it was makes it even more endearing and a great take on the original artwork itself; it's bringing Starry Night into the world of LEGO much like Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings movies are a great take on JRR Tolkien's original books. The movies could never replace the books, but they are fun foray into the world of Tolkien, and this LEGO set is much the same with Starry Night. Definitely recommend. ... show more

There is nothing to dislike about this set. I was hesitant because it was pricey, but the work and design that has gone into this set is incredible. I am in my late 80's and found this to be extremely delightful to build and enjoy the beauty of the design. With over 2300 pieces, I was missing one piece at the end of the build, but was able to create it with the extra pieces that accumulated. I highly recommend this set for anyone who would like to relax and build a work of art. So happy Lego is being made for adults. I know there are less expensive sets available by other manufacturers of this build, but I highly recommend the original Lego, it is sturdy and beautiful. For background, my wife and I do many puzzles and have never done a Lego set together. I haven't done anything with Legos since I was a kid, but this set was on sale and seemed like a fun challenge. This set is 2300+ pieces and we typically do 1000 - 2000 piece puzzles so I was a bit concerned about the difficulty. Turns out, it would be similar to doing nine 250 piece puzzles with exact instructions on where to put the pieces, meaning it wasn't much of a challenge to complete. I imagine a 10 year old could do this with parental help. It was still fun, enjoyable, and turned out beautifully, but I wouldn't mark it down as challenging. I would say it was worth the money given the amount of time we spent on it (less than 10 hours) and the fact that it will remain a decoration in our house for decades to come. ... show more

I purchased this Van Gogh set for my husbands birthday gift because that’s his favorite artist. It is pricey and a bit smaller than I expected. The quality is great and sturdy. I do think it’s worth the price if you’re a VG lover. I think it’s such a unique gift idea and piece to have. We put it together and enjoyed some wine, it was a lot of fun! This is great for a little at home date night/quality time. The piece is beautiful, gorgeous colors just as you’d expect. My favorite thing is that you can actually hang it on the wall once it’s completed, which I had no idea when I first bought it! I highly recommend for all the VG fans out there. ... show more
