Why did you pick this product vs others?: It's ridiculously expensive, but it's also gloriously cool. I'm so glad they are releasing LOTR sets again. My young adult son collects Lego Star wars sets, but he says he would sell them all for LOTR sets if only more would come out.

My partner is so excited to build this Lego set! I bought with the Amazon credit card offer so the price was a steal. This set is HUGE and has incredible detail. As a long time collector, I cannot recommend enough. Make sure you’re working on a light colored table! Most of the pieces are black or darker color and can be difficult to see, but we knew what we were signing up for ... show more

When I received this product from Amazon it was somewhat clear it had been opened before. I didn't think much of it until getting into the bags and finding that certain ones had been opened. Yep, it was missing EVERY minifigure. I was going to return it but Amazon suggested I talk to Lego directly which ended up being super helpful. They were quick, friendly, and even had a few quips about Middle Earth that had me chuckling. I just received replacement figures after a couple of weeks and all is well. I really struggled with returning this one because the set is so cool and I didn't want it to be turned around and sent to someone else accidentally. It's really good to know Lego corporate has their customers' backs wherever they buy their products. The set itself is awesome. It's huge and the build went really well. It took me about six nights to complete (working a few hours a night roughly). I will say the last stretch of the set had a LOT of black pieces and the instructions made it difficult at times to discern different colors such as dark browns, dark grays, and black. There are a ton of pieces in this set and I think it provides a lot of value. It's definitely more of an adult set but none of the mechanisms were too difficult. While the build was probably a 7/10 it's a 9/10 sitting on my bookshelf and keeping an 'eye' on things. ... show more
