    • Pure Blacktron nostalgia — an absolute joy to build
This set was for me, and as someone who grew up loving Blacktron back in the 90s, it hit exactly the right notes. The Blacktron Renegade is wonderfully nostalgic while still feeling polished and intentional as a modern LEGO Icons build. The building experience itself was excellent—engaging, relaxing, and thoughtfully designed. It brought back a lot of memories from childhood, but without feeling outdated. The details, colors, and overall structure feel like a respectful update rather than a reimagining that loses the original spirit. What I appreciated most is how clearly this set is aimed at adult fans. It’s not rushed, not gimmicky, and it rewards taking your time. The finished model looks fantastic on display, but the real value for me was the build itself. I really appreciate that lego made another Blacktron set. I got this on Black Friday sale for 50% off so I had to buy it. It definitely gives me some old school lego vibes. It took 3 hours to make and it has all the pieces. It’s very a very modular set where you can connect different ship modules to different areas to let your imagination run wild. Lego if you are listening please do more throwbacks like this such as Aqua Zone. ... show more

I ended up getting three of these because I enjoyed the normal build so much. I made sure to build the ship and mech, then I got one for my son. I was born too late to partake in the classic Lego space era. I grew up reading Lego history books and seeing photos of the galaxy explorer and the renegade so getting to see them faithfully recreated with modern building techniques over the last few years has been a blast. I could not believe I got the second one so much cheaper than MSRP. Both builds were awesome. The mech uses several components from the main build and organizing the pieces wasn’t especially challenging since you lose out on the numbered bag order. The modular design connection method makes snapping pieces together easy without risking any structural integrity. I highly recommend picking up a couple of these sets while there is still some stock that isn’t astronomically expensive. ... show more

This is a great build and a wonderful set for young and old. It really brings back the nostalgia of old space sets while using many of the great aspects of modern Lego design.

It's a great time to be a kid.....for the 2nd time. This is a remaster of a cool Lego Space model from late 80s, early 90s. I missed it then, but now I am enjoying this "4k" version. The look of this particular theme in Lego Space was great before and even better now. Try different configurations with the engines, command pod and the smaller "speeders". Get two to combine and expand the model, or just to have the alternate build at the same time. Pure fun! ... show more

Bigger and better than the 1980s version. More features with modern pieces. The retractable landing gear and mini-speeders (disguised as the Blacktron logo) was a really nice touch. The mini-figs and robot bring back so many memories of my 80s childhood!
