  • Great product, poor instructions
Color: Wooden-15 to 30hp U
Extremely sturdy, materials feel very well made. Great for my 60lb 5hp outboard. Instructions do suck, but you can figure it out on your own pretty easily.

  • Cheap hardware. Less than desirable fitment and alignment
Color: WOODEN-30 to 115HP Wheel-1
This review is for the 315 pound rated stand. Pros: went together fairly easy, probably because of the rather large holes that allow for misalignment issues. The board (wood) seems like it should do the job, but it is a soft wood. For the money it's not a bad stand I suppose. Definitely not a Garelick. Cons: The hardware is what you would expect from China, soft alloy steel bolts with wide shallow grooves in the head that strip/twist out easily when used with the nylon lock nuts provided. The washers are thin and flimsy and could be more robust. The tube to tube fitment from the upper handle assembly to the lowere rails is extremely loose and could definitely benefit from a tighter fit. Holes were off some, but not so bad that any had to be modified. The axle to wheel fitment is also rather loose and floppy. A few extra washers could help sturdy up the wheels a bit. Conclusion not a bad stand. Take your time to dry fit everything first and start to gradually tighten up all the fasteners. I found that a bit of tweaking as you go might me necessary to get the alignment all worked out to get everything running true and level. I purchased this stand to hold my 1947 Evinrude Big Four and so far it seems to be sturdy enough to hold that 185lb old work horse. Hope this review helps those that may be interested. Wish Garelick was still producing stands! ... show more

  • Very very bad quality control.
In this world I have become relatively tolerant of cheaply made products but this one absolutely is a jump below the worst I have ever seen. The first indication was that there was no instructions. After going to the product page I noticed there was a video about the assembly of the product. The next was when going over all the parts and bolts I noticed that there was a odd amount of nuts and one totally different than the rest. Later was by far the biggest as I found that the drilled holes did not match and were off center cosing the bolts no not go through properly. I at first that that this was my fault for having no instructions I thought I had assembled it incorrectly. Nope... It was totally of center. I was able to solve this by using a drill to grind out the hole so the bolt would go through ( compromising the structure I was afraid ) Nope it was already compromised by being incredibly of balanced. The moment I finally had it assembled ( finding another wrong nut on the wheel assembly in the process ) I found that when I placed my 6hp tahatsu motor and pulled it a bit forward toward myself it over balanced itself and wanted to flip over. So in writing this I want to sincerely plead with you to never ever even consider this product. ... show more

  • Serviceable Stand, Assembly Tips 15-30HP Stand
Color: Wooden-15 to 30hp U
This is a perfectly serviceable stand that you will be happy with as long as your expectations aren't too high. I bought it to be able to easily move my 9.9hp outboard around the garage and into the driveway, and it serves that purpose well I would not use this stand on sand or gravel, or for carting your engine long distances. And I probably wouldn't use this stand for a 20 or 30hp engine either. If you're looking to use it for those things you shouldn't be looking at this price point. This is poorly manufactured for weight bearing. While the V irons are substantial and bear the weight of the axle, the uprights are not fully supported because the assembly holes will not line up at the U shaped piece on the front. In order to make it fit you have to keep all the bolts very loose to give you the slack necessary to make all the holes line up. Once you do you'll see that the uprights are not fully cradled in the V irons. As a result, the weight is borne less by the V irons and more by the bolts through the thin wall of the tubing. This is why I wouldn't put anything much heavier than a 15hp engine on it. Tips for assembly: There are three different lengths of bolts, two of which are so close that it isn't apparent when you have hardware laid out. 4 short bolts for the V Irons 10 long bolts 4 extra long bolts for the wood board The long bolts and extra long bolts are so close in size that you can mix them up so try testing them through the wood board and the upright tube. Only four of them will fit through with enough thread left to screw on the nut. As you're assembling it leave everything super loose; do not tighten down any of the nuts. You'll need everything loose so that you can get all the holes lined up. If you even "hand tighten" the nuts you'll run into a problems later. Just thread the nuts on the bolts enough so that they don't fall off. Then when everything is together you can go back and tighten everything down. ... show more
