The description said it heated evenly and that is true! The first use was spaghetti sauce and it didn’t stain or retain the smell of the sauce. I bought it to replace a pot from a different brand and this one did a better job of heating evenly and holding the heat. This arrived damaged as seen in pictures. I am beyond disappointed and embarrassed since this was a Christmas gift for my daughter and the damage was not discovered until after she opened the gift. The enamel was chipped on the inside of the pot and enamel chips were all over the place. This had to come from the factory like this because the box was in perfect order. We expect exemplary quality from Le Creuset and this is unacceptable! What happened to the quality checks? I ordered a replacement but I certainly hope the new one arrives in usable condition unlike the one I received. ... show more

It's a nice heavy steel but not cast iron. It's nice and I will keep. ps...try baking your soups. Cooks evenly and no sticking to bottom of pot. Meats in soup tender up quicker as well. CAP
