I have always just leveled with a metal rake. This really works so much better. I moved some garden beds this year and had a fair amount of dirt in the old locations. The benefit there is that that is some quality dirt with organics over the clay in most of my yard. So I did want to spread teh good dirt on top and into the clay. Pro's + This is solid. The head is heavy, the poles are metal. I was skeptical, of the design until I saw it. + It's not huge, so I am not going to be doing a yard with it, but for an 12 ft area of garden beds, this was perfect + It really does level pretty well and fills the low spots and clay cracks I had + It doesn't pull up grass like a rake Cons - I really didn't have any Neutral: +/- The push and pull is a great workout, but I doubt you'd buy it for that, but I liked it. It more work than a rake, but better results +/- Yes, make it easy on yourself and pick up larger debris in the dirt field. But it didn't have a problem with small rocks I may even try this with a caliche project later this summer I think it will do great there as well. Overall, it does what it says and does it well. I kinda wish I knew about these earlier in my gardening hobby.

I think I got an extra pole in my order, the height of my garage door RO is 6 foot 10 high, and this is taller than that by a little. If I remove 1 pole I get approx 6 feet tall, and that is plenty. Before I took this out of the box I weighed it on my bathroom scales, it weighed 9.4 pounds. Most of that weight is in the head, right where it belongs. The poles are all metal with some plastic sleeves on them. The poles are threaded and all threads are in the metal poles, the plastic is NOT threaded at all. This is quite rugged, and does the job it was intended for. Before I ordered this I read some reviews and someone said this was hard work. Well, you are moving dirt/sand/gravel around and there is no motor, no electric parts. Yes, you are supplying all the energy necessary to move dirt around. This is much easier and faster than any other rake of shovel you might use to level your ground. Unless you have your own personal bulldozer kicking around, buy this and use it!!

It is a manual tool not a bulldozer so prepare to use your muscles. The task I was attempting was from the leftovers of a crew putting in pipe and then leaving huge tire tracks in my yard. So kind of them! I had to use a shovel to realign and move the dirt and THEN use this tool (Lawn Leveling Rake, 5FT)to further flatten it. It worked absolutely fabulous for planting a flower bed. Pulling out dirt to plant and then able to flatten where there were extra clumps of already loosened dirt. It was easy to put together. I loved that the handle pieces are screw together and no screws needed. Makes it easy if you are needing to haul it to a job site as well.

I don't hate this product - it technically works but it could have been designed much better to work a lot more efficiently. I was impressed with how heavy it is and the handle (despite being in many pieces, screwed together with plastic) feels solid and is very long (adjustable, can be shorter). It was pretty easy to assemble. The leveler is heavy & does a pretty good job at leveling dirty & sand (that's all I have tried with it so far; I'll update my review when there is anything else to report). Stuff gets all up in the 'rack' so it's hard to get it clean. Because of the weight, it does make you use a lot of muscle to be able to push/pull it but does make the job a lot easier than using a garden rack or shovel. The rack part does seem to be a good size and covers a large area fairly quickly. Overall, it's not a bad product & does work - I recommend but have realistic expectations.

This is well-made, robust, and looks like it will last several years. The handle consists of several sections that screw together and the manufacturers has designed them well; on my unit, the sections locked together perfectly and feel solidly joined. In use, it nicely moves sand etc. around to fill in gaps in the lawn, in other words, it does what it says it does and it does it well. I found it easy and smooth to use. The unit is heavy (which is a good thing) which in turn means the box is heavy, so be careful picking it up. One small point, the handle is solid metal all the way up, with no "gap" to hang it up on my garage wall. I might have to drill a hole through the handle so I can hang it up, but this is a minor annoyance. As you can tell, I'm happy with this unit.

This rake is nice and heavy and easy to assemble. However, the rake head is narrow. I was expecting something around 48"+, minimum. Maybe I didn't read the description well enough but it should be better, more clearly, stated that the head is narrow. I'll use it but I'll have to fabricate an adaptor to widen the head. The weight is great so no issues there. The handle screws together in about 5 or 6 pieces but you really need to tighten them down securely. Another good feature is that the handle can be shortened for ergonomic comfort. For the price, I'd recommend another product. You don't want to have two rakes around to store.

Be warned that leveling soil with a 'rake' like this is HARD work. It is a heavy tool (what you want for this job). It is adjustable and easy to assemble. But if you have tough soil/clay/rocks in the mix it might get stuck in the rake and will be even harder work. This could be the case with any level. I do think the size on this is good. It won't cover large areas but that also means it's easier to maneuver.
