I used this when I spread grass seed in my yard under the tree where the grass was sparse. It helped a lot! The dirt in my yard there is very hard packed from a car parking there in the past and that did a number on the grass that used to grow there.     • My tool of choice for aerating my lawn.
Aerating my lawn is a fairly new task for me, and I've tried several solutions, but this lawn aerator tool is the one that I'm most happy with. I find this lawn aerator tool to be easy to assemble, and easier to use. The only thing is, I wished the handle had less play in it, but this is due to the fact that it needs to be disassembled for shipment, but it's not really a problem, just a minor annoyance. ... show more

This has worked fine so far for me. It was heavier than I expected but everything seems to be a great quality. It was really easy to put together. Only took me about 15 minutes to get everything on including all the nails. I wanted it to use on the areas our dog uses. I water those areas a lot more and noticed the ground was feeling more compacted. Even with our pretty Rocky soils, this did a great job. I would say it is not really meant for large areas. The areas I used it on were both about 12’ x 15’. This is a bit small so it was kind of tedious. But it still worked so I’m pleased. ... show more

    • Looking forward to better soil
This was easy to set up and is a decent weight, which I didn't expect. I used this in a small area of compacted soil to help with grass growth so I'm looking forward to the results come spring. It was really easy to use.

    • Heavy Duty and Easy to Use
I'll be honest, I didn't expect much when I ordered this, other than it maybe lasting a couple of days of light use. I was definitely wrong. The box arrived and it was much heavier than I expected. The material is heavy and strong, so that was a plus right away. Assembly isn't difficult by any means, but you have to install each individual spike, so there's a small process to doing that correctly without cutting your hand. The spikes are pointed bolts, with nuts that hold them in place. After using it a few times, I'd recommend using a thread locker or something similar to keep the nuts from loosening. The size is much larger than I expected as well. I took it to my yard where I've had a lot of issues lately and stepped on the base plate, not expecting it to really support the pressure, or sink in, but I was wrong. It went straight into the ground, even a little more with a light stomp, then I pulled it out. It left the ground slightly aerated like I wanted, and I continued on. For 20 minutes I moved around to different areas with compact and loose soil and never had any issues. Cleaning it off was as simple as spraying it down with a hose and it was ready for its next adventure in the yard. Sometimes you see products that look like they're made well but they bend or only work one time, but that's not the case here. It should last you several years. ... show more

Wear I live the soil is dense tough clay and this has become the perfect tool for getting my yard ready for wildflowers and native plants. It was simple to put together and after all day working my yard it holds up without the need for tightening or adjustments.

    • Easy assembly and got the job done
This is my first time ordering or using a lawn aerator, there are so many expensive products out there but this one is a great bang for your buck! Assembly was really quick and spikes are very sturdy once installed. I was worried about the lightweight frame not being durable but it held up great for the job needed just fine, the overall weight is very light! I do wish there was another foot leverage point other than in the middle for harder ground but it still got the job done just fine! ... show more

Like other reviewers have noted, I too was surprised at the weight of the box when it arrived. This turned out to be a sturdy tool. It was quick and easy to assemble, the manufacturer even included all the tools that were needed (plus a couple spare parts). The metal plate holding the spikes is about 1/8" thick and the spikes are about a 1/4" in diameter and 2 1/4" long. I used it to aerate a 10' x 20" section of the lawn that I'm reseeding, it took about 15-20 minutes to aerate the area. The total working area of the tool is only 50 square inches, so it does not cover a lot of ground. Due too the size, it is not something you want to use for a large area, but for a small area like mine it was perfect. Nice addition to the tool shed. ... show more
