I got this aerator to aerate the lawn before dropping new grass seed. My assessment: 1. All of the individual pieces are quite solid and strong; even the tools they give you for assembly are high quality. 2. I like how the spikes are so easy to remove and replace. So, if you don't want to use all 15 spikes, you can easily remove some. And, if they dull, you can easily replace them with new spikes. 3. The assembly was very easy, and the assembled product feels very strong and sturdy. 4. When using this product, you can push down or step as hard or as soft as you want. Unlike other aerators I have, with this one, no stomping is required. 5. Unlike aerator shoe fittings that I have, these spike are very easy to clean off. 6. According to studies I found, the spikes are actually spaced at the optimal distance from each other; and, any more spikes, or any closer, and you would likely be pulling up your lawn instead of punching holes. 7. It should be noted that this type of aerator does aerate, but it also slightly compacts the soil, because it creates holes by pushing soil tighter together. It is not a substitute for loosened soils you get from aerators that remove plugs. 8. My one critical comment about this aerator is that the tiny plastic caps they give you to put over the bolts (to prevent rust?) fall off very easily. Consequently, if you want to avoid the vulnerable parts from rusting, store the aerator in a garage or shed; don't leave it outside.

I was pleasantly surprised at how well this aerator is made. Good quality materials and assembly is easy with the included tools and instructions. It can be assembled in one of two configurations. Either a single row of 5 spikes or with the added foot plate, it will be 15 spikes in three rows of five. The spikes are easy to install and are very heavy duty. They are solid spikes and not hollow so it creates holes and not plugs. The unit has foam handles for comfort. It is great for taking care of small patches of yard, although I did use it to do an 8' by 15' section of my backyard with no issues. If works best if you first water any hard areas to soften the soil a bit. So far the unit has held up well and I don't see any durability issues. If you need a manual aerator I recommend this one. I have tried the shoe attachments and single row aerators, but this one has worked the best for me.

I wish it had more spikes that were closer together, but it does work very well. It's great for little patches (I wouldn't want to do an entire acre with it or anything). I've even used it in areas I couldn't get a tiller into to disturb the soil before planting grass seed. I like that you can step on it effectively, and it doesn't get stuck in the ground.

This came with everything needed to put together. Very easy to snap the top together then add bolts, nuts and covers. The bottom can be 1 row of spikes or 3 rows if you add the plate. Add spices the put washer nut on and screw into place with the provided Tool to tighten into place. Once all spikes are bolted on you are ready to aerate. Simply press into the ground then move spots and continue as needed. I did water the lawn before doing this so it made the ground softer and easier to push down. Performs well, made of a good metal as there is a good weight to the aerator. Perfect size for anyone to use.

Extremely solid, well made yard equipment. I t even come with a couple extra pieces. I'd guess in case you misplaced one while assembling. You have a choice between installing just one row, with 5 spikes. Or you can install the foot pad with all the spikes on it. Just be sure when installing the spikes, don't put the middle row in before you connect it to the main piece. The middle row has to go through both. To hold the foot pad on. Then you can place the rest of the spikes through the remaining holes. This comes with several tools to get everything on tight. Allen wrench, a two sided wrench, one larger end for the spikes one smaller for the bolts. Then a piece to hold the top of the spike while tightening the nuts on the spikes. It also comes with a cleaning tool, it looks like a small weed puller actually. Every piece of this is made from heavy duty materials. Seems like it's made to last a very long time. It's easy to assemble, even easier to use. It works very well, plus it's fairly fast. With the straight spikes it's easy to use on any type of ground.

Set-up was easy. This is a must have for homeowners that want to have a green lawn during summer months. We had just placed sod in the beginning of summer and it started to brown. Ordered this and the combination of this tool and watering with nutrients really brought our investment back to life. Super happy with this product. Wired like a charm. Device is sturdy metal. Spikes are sturdy and long. Performance was easy and didn’t make a mess of our lawn.

I picked up this aerator because my lawn really needs it. It took a little bit to put together, but the assembly is not difficult, just mildly time consuming. Once assembled, it's very easy to use. The handles have comfortable grips, and this lets you use your full body weight to push down on the aerator, which makes the process really easy. Still takes time and effort, this isn't a powered aerator after all, but well worth it in my opinion.

Everything is included to assemble this tool. All looks very sturdy and will hold up for a long time. The spikes appear to be stainless steel and the rest is nicely coated so I expect a long lifetime.
