  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Nice personal item for air travel - just don't over stuff it
Color: A6-peacock Blue Size: Large
I purchased this backpack specifically to use as a "personal item" for a domestic flight on an airline (Frontier) that charges for any type of bag other than personal items. I bought the size "large," thinking that it was slightly under their size requirements for a personal item, so it should be good. I then proceeded to pack it full for my few-day trip. The airline now requires all personal items (at least out of Denver) to be placed into their sizing scale to ensure it will fit before allowing boarding. I managed to cram the bag into their mechanism, but it was not easy, so just be forewarned if you are one to like to stuff things full that you may struggle with this. Beyond the issue specific to this airline, the backpack itself was mostly great for traveling! It's water resistant, has lots of compartments/zippers/etc and has a padded back to provide some comfort while carrying. I particularly like the separate compartment for shoes, and although anything added here does take up space inside the interior of the bag, I like not having dirty shoes touching my clean clothing or getting electronics wet. I will say it's easy to pack this bag which is both a blessing and curse as I ended up having a pretty heavy bag to carry -- of course, that is the fault of the packer and not the bag itself. The small front zipper was great for keeping my phone and ID handy for showing as needed, and I appreciate the compression straps/clasps to help keep the pack as small as possible. I should also note that it would likely be a struggle to get this item under many airline seats (which is often the requirement for a personal item), even if it wasn't stuffed full. I didn't even try because there was plenty of overhead room, but another possible hiccup for travel. Although I've only used this for one round trip, it seems as though it will hold up decently to use and hopefully, in the future, I won't have to put quite so much into it so it won't be as hefty a load to carry. For the price and ease of use, I'd absolutely recommend and/or purchase again if needed in the future, but hoping this one will last awhile as I don't deal with a ton of airline traveling. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Durable Quality, Beautiful Bag
Color: A5-green Size: X-Large
Not a big reviewer but when I got this bag I was actually impressed by the quality and durable feeling of the outer material, inner lining, and padding. It also didn’t come with an offensive smell which is always nice. Everything aligns with the advertisement as shown except for the color. I chose the green and it’s more of a faded olive green than what’s shown online, but still a pretty color and honestly, I think I like it more this color. The side drink holder comes with a stretchable elastic at the top and an expandable pocket so it probably depends on how packed the main compartment is that will cause troubles for squeezing a bottle in there. Otherwise, it seemed pretty legit. Will test it out. Rating 4 stars for now bc I thought the straps laid funky. Not uncomfortable yet that I could tell, but just didn’t lay flat around my shoulders and looks a bit weird (could just be me). Will return to update after I use it next week and review: -How much it holds without overpacking -Durability during travel -If it fits under the airplane seat -Comfort ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Fit a ton & worked as a personal item
Color: A1-black Size: Large
This travel backpack is great! I used it for a 4 day trip and wanted to get by on Spirit with just a personal item. Success! I was able to fit 1 pair of jeans, 2 pairs of jean shorts, 4 tops, 1 skirt/top outfit, 2 pairs of shorts & 2 athletic tops, 1 bathing suit, a coverup, 1 pair of pj’s, several pairs of underwear, socks, and sports bras, 3 pairs of sandals; plus a small toiletry bag, a book, and chargers. Quite a lot!! I used the rolling method to make it work which wasn’t difficult at all. Sorry I don’t have a picture of the end product but trust me, it’ll all fit and I wasn’t questioned at all! I should mention I’m a size 14/16 so we aren’t even talking teeny clothes 😊 Perfect for a long weekend. Highly recommend! ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Great carryon item, but don't overstuff it
Color: A1-black Size: X-Large
I got this in the large size in black for a work trip. First, it's pretty functional and I do really like all of the pockets and how easy it is to pack it. It's very rectangular...and it feels like you're wearing a rectangle. But it's very easy to pack because it's so rectangular. The laptop sleeve is deep and very well padded and protected. However, the bag became very heavy very fast, and if you have a laptop in the back sleeve compartment, be prepared to walk very upright like you have a board strapped to your back...because you do. Also, the hidden back pocket is basically inaccessible once you put a laptop into the laptop compartment and especially if there is no give elsewhere in the body of the bag. Usually I like to travel carryon only as much as possible, so I'll have a rolling bag as my carry on and a separate bag for my personal item, both as large as possible to maximize carryon capacity. I'll gate check the rolling bag if they ask for volunteers. This backpack was intended to be my personal item on a recent trip I took with about 6 flights, all domestic, ranging from 2-10 hours per flight. It was a relief when I was able to put it on my rolling bag. On my first flight out with this bag, it was really crowded and they needed people to gate check, so I gate checked my rolling bag. It was a good thing I did, because I didn't realize that with this backpack packed to full capacity, it would no longer fit under the seat in front of me. By full capacity I mean that it was full--zippers not bulging but still needed to stuff to get things into each compartment. I thought it would be OK with the compression straps, but it wasn't. I had to put it in the overhead bin and I felt so guilty about that, but it just wasn't going to fit. I was able to put it under the seat on my other legs as long as I didn't stuff it to capacity, and I made sure to take care with packing for the rest of my flights on that trip (although I still ended up gate checking my rolling bag because all of my flights were just that full...welcome to post-pandemic domestic travel, I guess). It's just a little bit too easy to overpack; you mostly need to be careful with not putting too much into the front pocket, and no more than one layer clothing or the equivalent in the main body. You should still be able to compress down; if the compression straps don't need to be tightened then you've got too much inside. Otherwise, this bag was fine for the trip but more awkward and uncomfortable than I anticipated. I think it was an OK purchase overall. It came back looking like it was still brand new. The zippers all still work and the clips are all still perfect. I liked the water bottle pocket. I didn't try to use the USB charging setup and honestly I don't really see myself having a use for it and would prefer it just wasn't there. Be very careful to not overpack if using this as your personal item. Otherwise, it was OK. You could spend your money on worse bags. ... show more
