This is my first pair of western style boots I’ve ever had. Like many other reviews of these boots, I have really large calves and have difficulty finding boots that not only fit, but are attractive. These fulfill both conditions. They are comfortable enough to wear right out of the box. Their wideness is not obvious once on. The full grain leather provides both a nice feel and smell, snd I know they will form nicely to my feet. I loved them so much I got the black pair too! Purchased these boots to wear with summer dresses and LOVE them. They are super soft except for the toe box, which you want rigid to maintain the square shape. The shaft is leather, lined with a soft fabric and fits a large calf with room to spare (see pictures) The top of the arch area is tight when wearing socks if you add a 3/4 arch support insole, but I'm sure it will stretch as they are a good soft leather. I would not recommend using a full length arch support as the too box would be too shallow. I think the fit is true, as I wear a 9.5 in Durango brand square toe and a 9.5 in this fits the same. The front edge of the heal is a bit sharp when walking but I'm sure that will wear down with more use. I've only had these for 1 week. Will update on durability in a month or so. ... show more

UPDATE: I’ve had these for a while now, and they have held up to barn/farm work well. I did put an insole with more cushion and support, and these are pretty comfy to move around in. They clean up nicely, and with oil and care, they haven’t cracked or separated. Would 100% recommend for a western riding boot! These are cute ropers that are replacing my old ones. My previous pair pushed on my mid-foot and actually left red marks! I bought these for the ability to lace up and give my mid foot more space. These are great for high arches in that respect. They don’t have a lot of actual arch support, but just giving room in the mid foot (something a lot of boots lack), is amazing. They are narrow through the toe box, so I ordered one size up(usually a size 8.5 and ordered a 9). They are perfect and could fit a slim insole with a thin sock. The heel is supportive with enough flex to get your heels down in the stirrup. I also thought I was going to hate the Kiltie piece, but it’s a cute accent detail. Overall: would definitely order again! Will update after a month or so! ... show more

I bought these for riding and ranch work and they're perfect, exactly what I'd hoped for. The toe is nice and short and won't get stuck in your stirrup if you get into trouble. Took a week to break in and that wasn't super pleasant, had some bad blisters but after breaking in they're so comfortable. Great product. ... show more

I love these boots. I went with review advice saying they run big so ordered a half size down. Don't. They're too short for my toes so I can't wear them but if they fit correctly I'd wear them everywhere. The quality is top notch. If you worry about the calf being too tight don't. I can never find boots that fit over my calves but these are perfect. The leather is butter soft but sturdy. Took several weeks to arrive and I'd forgotten I'd even ordered them. Someone who works for me brought the box into the house and set it behind a chair where I didn't notice until my try before you buy return/exchange time had passed. I bought a size 8 because the reviews all said they ran large. I probably would’ve been just fine with an 8.5. However they still fit well and I have received many compliments. I’ve ridden my horse while wearing these and I’ve gone on a walk downtown during a date and they were very comfortable. I’m glad I bought these.
