I recently received these ice skates, and they have been a fantastic addition to my winter gear and helping my kids in their hockey and skating lessons. I was initially skeptical about the velcro upper with laces, and was worried they'd wear out, but I'm really liking the customization of hold/feel/tightness that I can get from the closure being 2 parts. The standout feature of these skates is the closure system. They have a lace-up middle combined with a velcro strap at the top. This is very nice for me because it allows for different tension levels. I can have a tighter, secure feel around my foot while keeping the upper ankle area a bit looser when I want more mobility, as I sometimes have some leg swelling or toe numbness if shoes are too tight. With standard laces-only skates, you usually get one tension throughout, but this hybrid design gives you the best of both worlds. The interior padding is soft and keeps my feet warm during long sessions on the ice. Despite the ability to keep the top loose, the overall support is excellent. The boot feels sturdy and well-constructed, providing enough stability for beginners and intermediate skaters alike. They didn't require a long "break-in" period, which made my first few outings very enjoyable. Out of the box, the blades aren't horrible in terms of sharpness, but they definitely aren't great and I would highly recommend having them sharpened before your first use to ensure you aren't slipping and sliding all over. Once sharpened, they hold an edge well and provide a smooth experience. The aesthetic is classic and clean. The materials used for the boot feel high-quality and water-resistant, which is important for keeping your feet dry. The stitching is reinforced, and the velcro strap feels heavy-duty enough to last for a very long time. Overall: For the price, these skates offer a great value. The adjustable fit makes them much more comfortable than standard rentals or basic lace-up models. If you are looking for a reliable, comfortable, and customizable pair of skates for the season, these are an excellent choice. 10/10 Recommend

The Lake Placid ice skates are well made, solid skates for an occasional skater. The skates are heavy and solid. Like most ice skates, it takes a while to lace up and get the skates on. You want them to fit snug around the ankles so there is a lot of pulling and tugging at the laces. The top latching mechanism was great to have. They come with a small rubber guard to protect the blades. I found the blades somewhat dull for new skates. I am glad I ordered the size 10 (I wear a size 9). Overall, the skates were comfortable and I was able to skate for one hour which is pretty good for someone who doesn't skate very often. I felt supported and safe with these.

I purchased these for my wife. She needed a new set and after trying these she absolutely loves them. These Lake Placid Everest women’s ice skates are a great choice, especially for beginners and casual skaters. They’re comfortable right out of the box and provide solid ankle support, which helped my wife feel confident on the ice. The padding is soft but supportive, and the fit was true to size for her. The blades feel sturdy and glide smoothly on an indoor skate rink. She didn’t notice any wobbling or instability, even as she picked up a little speed. Overall, these skates offer excellent comfort and performance for the price. A nice upgrade from rental skates and perfect for recreational skating or learning new skills.
