I use this as a light weight coat instead of a dress. The questions/comments from some reviewers have been whether or not this product was truly cotton material. I say it's definitely cotton. My daughter washed my 'coat' in a regular wash cycle and also dried it in the dryer. It shrank as cotton/ linen does. I ordered another to replace the badly shrunk one. I added a star, because after it shrank in the wash I realized I really like this shirt dress/coat even though it is not as long and flowing as pictured. Update- I received the replacement "cotton linen shirt dress" that I use as a light coat. This time, the dress looks exactly as pictured in length ( not like the one on models). I'm 5' 7" tall and this dress length is at the top of my feet. The previous one's length before it got washed and dried, had a length just past my knees. Also, I sized up when I reordered to allow for shrinkage after my first one shrank up to the top of my knees. Now, the discrepancies between the 'same' dress ordered: lengths are very different, collars aren't the same style, the sleeve cuffs are not the same style either, and the tags show one is cotton linen, and the newer one is just cotton. Look at the pictures showing the differences. Shopping according to written and video/picture descriptions is seldom accurate anymore on Amazon. I base this upon past experiences and upon the two very different shirt dresses I received. The only thing that's the same between the two is both are black. Not a bright yellow more of a muted yellow close to a light mustard. The fit is perfect, true to size. Good material light but a bit see through, maybe wear a slip dress under it. The pockets are always appreciated.

Very nice 100% cotton. Some see through but not much at all. Good for spring, summer, fall. Winter if you layered something over or under. I have jewelry for summer (Turquoise) and silver, gold etc . for all year round that's going to look great. I bought the black. I just now ordered the navy blue. I'm 5'3.5 and it comes to my ankles or(there about). One could belt it but I'm wearing it belt less with Statement earings and/ or earings. I had a blue cotton shirt dress like this when I was 16. Not only is the fabric not cotton or linen as stated, it is also very rough and coarse. Unfortunately, I washed it, thinking it would soften up, but it actually got worse, and now I can't return it. It's a nice style and made okay, just what it's made from makes it unwearable for me.

Dress doesn’t remain looking crisp. Cotton can look slouchy so, you will need to iron it. The upside is the thinner cotton makes it comfy for summer months. Looks better with a belt for a more finished look. Thinner but not see through, at least with the navy color. Love the pockets and the sleeves are past the elbow and is not tapered, sort of straight- so rolled it up for a better fit. Roomy enough to move shoulders. Roomy in the chest area as well if you are endowed. The model in the picture must be petite. Perhaps 5 feet tall or so? I bought bigger just in case because I knew I would belt it.The dress is not Maxi length. I live in and love cotton dresses. I buy a lot of them. I wear American-sized brand Maxi dresses and they normally hit my ankles, (such as Banana, Old Nay, Target, Gap, Walmart, Ann Taylor, H&M, and so on). The dress fits well and I like the style, but the fabric is stiff. I checked the fiber content and was so disappointed to see that it is 100% polyester. There is nothing cotton or linen about this dress. If it had been a cotton linen blend or even a high cotton blend with polyester i would have give it 5 stars. ... show more

I was drawn to this long shirt style dress because buttons matched the color of the fabric. Purchased black and love the way it looks. There is just enough room to be roomy, length is at my ankles and will be great with interesting jewelry/scarves. I've just washed it to hang dry...not expecting too much difference.
