So, after I went to the bother of hunting down duck eggs since I'm now allergic to chicken eggs I used what my recipe suggested, avocado oil which wouldn't influence the flavor of my finished product & this avocado oil served admirably. Between La Tourangelle oil & the 5 duck egg yolks I also have the most beautiful mayo ever since the anemic look of commercially available mayo comes courtesy of a much higher percentage of oil than eggs. I had high hopes for this product. It's in a gorgeous bottle that's fit for the countertop. However, when I served this to my family with a mix of homemade bread dipping spices, they could not even eat it. It had a terribly bitter taste - so bad that they refused a second bite. I had been cooking with it, so we didn't notice the taste too much. I will continue cooking with the rest of the bottle, but this does not have the smooth and slightly sweet taste that we expect of olive oil. ... show more

I was excited to try this brand because of multiple recommendations from other web sites. It was highly recommended for dipping. I received it a couple of weeks ago and the use by date was April 29, 2023 which seemed a little soon. I made a fresh sourdough loaf today and poured some for dipping. It didn't smell bad but it tasted old and had a very bitter aftertaste. I tried a couple more bites and used different bread with the same result. I dumped what I had poured out and put the can in the trash. I don't know if it was just old or maybe stored poorly before I got it. ... show more
