  • My favorite hiking boot
I've always liked Solomons. The 2 pair of La Sportiva Raptors I've bought...I wanted to like but after 6 or 7 miles they hurt my feet. I'm sure that's me and not the shoe, but regardless I was hesitant to buy these boots. I saw they came in wide so I took a chance. I'm glad I did because they're awesome. Very comfortable, no issues at all. They will be my back up boot (a $360 pair of Crispi's being my primary) for this year's 10 day 3rd season dear/elk hunt. Will definitely buy again when time comes to replace them. ... show more

  • Finally a Great off-trail hiking boot
Size: 10 Wide Color: Black/Clay
My hiking boots off about 20 years finally had to be retired. I tried a few brands until these and I am very pleased. I recommend buying a wide size as the toe box is a bit tight. If you can - go to an actual store try them on and them order on Amazon for the price. As I do off-trail hiking, the exterior toe protection is key and seems to be holding up unlike prior versions. The sole grip although seems hard, is holding up walking on slope rocks. Another plus is the light weight as I do a lot of vertical, trail above your head type hiking and the last thing I want is to be weighted down with heavy boot. So far so good. ... show more

  • Sizes are smaller than the shoes / boots normally sold in the US converting inches to centimeters.
Size: 12 Color: Black/Clay
Sizes are smaller than the shoes / boots normally sold in the US converting inches to centimeters. My foot was an inch and a half to an inch and three quarters wider than the boots so I couldn't try them on. I will say they were very light boots and seemed better than average quality. The tread felt like it should have good grip on most surfaces. Looking over the boots they had no loose threads or poorly glued material. ... show more

  • Just got back from 4 days of hiking in Yosemite Park!
Size: 9.5 Wide Color: Black/Clay
I love this brand of shoes, been using them for hiking for years. Fits as expected, laces never come untied. Water resistant, light weight. Someone told me, 'Don't skimp on your shoes always spend the money for the right product for your needs'. These shoes are a little expensive but all the pluses that you get from La Sportiva is worth the investment. ... show more

  • GoreTex Leaks
Size: 10.5 Color: Black/Clay
I've bought Solomon and La Sportiva exclusively for nearly 15 years. After having the Solomons fall apart sooner and sooner every time I bought them, and getting more and more expensive, I switched back to La Sportiva. I bought these boots and some trail shoes (La Sportiva). The trail shoes were great, though with the soft rubber, wore out rapidly. Soles are toast, while the rest of the shoe is totally fine. A complete waste. Solomons were the same way, unfortunately. For the positives first. They look great. Once they break in and warm up, you barely notice them on your foot- They're very lightweight. They get excellent traction on wet rocks and roots, shallow mud, and pretty much everything else. Plus the height is just right for me. Now for the negatives. The boots fit a little narrow even for my narrow feet, especially when you first put them on. They loosen up fairly quickly, however, to yield a tight, reasonably comfortable fit. The boots I have arrived with the GoreTex failed, as I found out while I was in Peru in March and April (2022). If you've never been, they get a ton of rain in the forest. Generally with every boot I've owned, I can walk through small streams and have the boots be totally saturated or submerged, and they won't leak (up to a certain height), let alone rain. These leaked immediately in rain, feet never submerged. Besides the leakage, which is a big problem, the boot trim has already started falling apart. The boots have maybe 25 miles. This set of boots are disappointingly made. Even one of the laces is fraying. When they're cleaned up, they look pretty much new as they now sit. Barely any scuffs on them, no punctures, tears or rips. They shouldn't be leaking, nor should they already be falling apart. I've been on 1 hike with them. I've worn them in situations where it was raining, of course to have my feet be wet. Not soaked, not damp. I would consider them to be lightly used. I've contacted GoreTex regarding the leak, and have started a case with them. Despite the failures, I will buy another pair, because I'm sure this is a fluke, which is why the review is 3* and not lower. I will more than likely be reimbursed for the purchase cost, which is nearly $25 less than what they're now selling for. I am certainly disappointed in the failure of these boots, and hope the next pair is of better construction. ... show more

  • Super Light!
Size: 10 Color: Black/Clay
Bought these for photography on and off the trails. Carrying camera gear, you need good boots and not more weight. These are perfect! Light weight, very comfortable and waterproof. Nothing negative about these boots. I went 1/2 size up and that was exactly right for size. The light weight and full ankle support is wonderful! ... show more

  • Great show
Slightly narrow but I love the stout foot bed, low drop, and sticky grip. Perfect shoe for rocky trails.

  • Great for narrow feet
Size: 12 Color: Black/Clay
I ordered size 12 and they fit well. I have narrow feet. The boots are lightweight and provide good ankle support. They also eased my plantar fasciitis issues.
