  • Pleased with the quality and flavor
I was pleased to try these because I always wanted to try to make Ramen at home and wanted to try to make Jammy eggs, so I got to try 2 firsts here! The texture of the noodles are firm and chewy, I would recommend tasting a noodle to be sure it's to your liking before removing it from the heat, I had to go about a minute over to get my desired texture, which the packaging does also state in the directions. I thought the broth on them all was delightful and flavorful, it was very rich and I thought the taste was on point. The spiciness was not overbearing; it still let the flavors shine through without just feeling like burning. I like that they are a high protein noodle and made a little healthier. I also like that they have the optional chili crisp that you can make on the side if you should want to instead of having the flavor automatically blended in with each of them. There is a nice variety of flavors in the 3 packages, giving you some versatility for your meal options. I will say for me I did end up eating the entire thing as one meal as it would be on the smaller side if I divided the portion in 2, 1 entire bag was a complete and filling meal. The sodium can be a little high so this would not be an everyday meal to me but a special treat. I added some fresh veggies, jammy eggs and chicken in with them which was a nice way to enhance the flavors. Overall, I thought they were a nice value for the quality and what you get even if a little on the steep side with price. ... show more

  • I'm getting takeout next time
Chicken flavored one tastes like regular budget ramen chicken from the grocery aisle, I couldn't detect the black garlic or any unique flavor Shrimp flavor comes from powdered shrimp shells and tastes like spicy tomato shrimp shells. Shrimp shells have a flavor that isn't good in my opinion and doesn't taste the same as actual shrimp. Beef flavored one barely has any beef and it could have been a good vegan option if they had just left out that little bit of beef fat. Chili crisp came out good but the way following the instructions ended up being a bit risky for me. Pouring so much hot oil over the ingredients made it meet up with some condensation and splatter out so much it hit my ceiling. I think it wouldn't be complicated to make my own at home, normally I would just add the ingredients at the beginning and slowly heat the oil, instead. Noodles have a nice flavor even plain they're a little almost buttery tasting. The texture is good and are pleasantly chewier than regular ramen noodles Getting the set isn't a major deal it only saves you around $3 vs buying the items individually at the current price It feels overpriced but it says the ingredients are higher quality than regular ramen so I guess that's the reason why it costs more and maybe makes it healthier. Especially with the high protein content in the noodles. The company is based out of Las Vegas and I feel like that might be skewing what they think things should cost. $11 for a ramen that you make at home seems expensive. Also it says it's two servings but realistically it amounts to one serving as it would be very small servings if split in half. ... show more

  • Super tasty high end noodles
I got the KYUNU high-protein spicy ramen because I wanted a quick bowl of noodles that would be more filling than the instant ramen I usually keep in the pantry. The noodles are the standout for me. They have a satisfying, bouncy chew instead of turning soft and mushy in the broth, so the bowl feels more substantial. The spicy flavor gives it a good kick, and I like that it is savory as well as hot. It is satisfying on its own, but I can also add an egg or some vegetables when I have a little more time. That flexibility makes it useful for a quick lunch or an easy dinner when I do not feel like cooking from scratch. I also appreciate getting more protein in a food I already enjoy eating. Sometimes high-protein alternatives feel like a compromise on texture, but these still give me the noodle experience I was hoping for. I would check the specific flavor and nutrition label when ordering, since KYUNU has more than one spicy option. Overall, this is a convenient choice if you like spicy ramen and want something with a satisfying noodle texture and more protein than a basic packet. It eats like a full meal so excellent value for the money. ... show more

  • Soba-style ramen with a Taiwanese influence; it's uniquely tasty.
This package consists of three packs of high-protein (label says 30g protein per pack) variety egg noodles that came in the following flavors: Chicken & Black Garlic Noodle Soup, Taiwanese Tomato Beef Noodle Soup, and Thai Shrimp Tom Yum Noodle Soup. We tried what the Chicken & Black Garlic Noodle Soup pack first, which is what the manufacturer claims as their most popular one, to begin. My wife did the preparation/cooking while I took notes, photos, etc. The texture of the noodles is interesting; it's a somewhat rough texture (reminds me of Mak-guksu, which is a traditional Korean cold buckwheat noodle dish) and soba in taste, but the flavor of the seasoning, especially this, is a bit unique. We didn't add the chili crisp with this sample, as I wanted to try the original tastes and not have it augmented with additional seasoning or spicy chili. For this bowl, we added an egg, slices of chicken, and some seaweed. It is tasty and has a unique flavor (my wife said it was a bit salty). Portion wise, the directions said the servings are enough for two people per bag, but I was able to finish it all by myself. The directions printed on the bag was a bit confusing (or lacking) and I find that I had to go to their website to find out more specifics; for instance, do you add the seasoning/packet into pot that you prepared the noodles with, or a separate pot? It wasn't clear. Overall, it's quite good and tasty. As for the value for the money, I think it's fair, given if you were to go out to a Japanese or ramen restaurant and get a bowl of ramen, it can range anywhere from $12-$18+ for a bowl of ramen, and this box of 3-pack is currently selling for $45 at the time of this review, or $15 per pack, and you get to decide what ingredients you want to put into it. Give it a try. ... show more

  • Elaborate but VERY expensive "foodie" ramen!
I've been trying a variety of specialty ramens lately and started liking the more expensive ones. Turns out I didn't know JUST how expensive they got, and this one is the most luxury of them that I've ever seen. That it comes with what looks to be a genuinely hand-written note, I guess it was to be expected - but you only live once and you gotta enjoy it while you can? This KYUNU pack of 3 comes in a large box that is the same size as a 12 pack of ramen from the big brands - but yet, it is only 3 servings. Most of it is packaging and it comes with a tray and 2 kinds of desiccant which was rather disappointing because that's what desiccant is there for - to disappoint you in thinking its another flavor packet or piece of beef jerky, after all..! There actually isn't a whole lot of noodle in the main packs, but for what it lacks in quantity for price it tries to make up for in quality. In that regard it does a fairly good job of providing a high-end ramen experience. It comes with ONE flavor packet which does have a fair amount in it. There are 3 flavors provided and I liked the mild one best. It also comes with a pack of chili crisp that I suppose is to be spread among your use of the 3 flavors; as it is just more spiciness I didn't use much but its good for adding more variety and customization to your bougie ramen. While I am a bit of a foodie, having done daily runs of food trucks I'm not $15 a bowl of ramen foodie, and even with a handwritten note the price is a bit hard to justify. So while it's good, its not really affordable not even on my best days. But if you are into trying interesting and ambitious food products with no regard to affordability, give the KYUNU a try - and live a little! ... show more

  • protein instant noodles are not worth $15 a serving
The good thing here is that they managed to make the noodles with a good ratio of complete proteins. Pea protein here is the only one that's technically incomplete but overall the rest do come from a confirmed complete source. Other brands would likely cut corners here and use something less complete for the sake of saying they have x amount of protein. If you're unfamiliar, a complete protein needs all the required amino acids so your body can utilize it for muscle synthesis. Things like collagen are not a complete protein, for example. The noodle texture is pretty rough as a result of the ingredients. Ultimately you kind of have to compromise if you want what is predominantly a carb to become a protein, so I don't have any complaints about the texture. Imagine a buckwheat to an extent. Unfortunately I think the flavor is pretty underwhelming and somewhat weak. This is when following directions to perfection. It's also a pretty small portion. I wouldn't have an issue with this if it was a few bucks, but this is $15 a serving, which is the price of going to an actual restaurant to get ramen in my area. I think there are multiple easy ways of getting protein in life, so some things you should kind of give up on. For example, using konjac noodles which are effectively zero calories and getting protein from actual meat toppings would be not only cheaper, but a more enjoyable ramen experience. That's basically my only gripe. it's extremely expensive and I don't think many sane people are willing nor should pay $15 for instant noodles. ... show more

  • Fancy protein-filled ramen!!
These noodles are delicious I am completely stumped by the less than five star reviews. Although I literally read one that said somebody was giving a three stars because they got oil on their ceiling. Incredible that this person even figured out how to log on to their Amazon account at all. I love ramen so much but I always kind of feel bad because I feel like it's not super nutritious so I love that these are high protein egg noodles instead of the regular noodles which do not contain any egg at all. 30 g of protein per packet is nuts!! This is definitely elevated ramen, it's not fried so it takes away some of the bad fats and it has fancy elevated soup packet flavors. I really liked the flavor. Sometimes cheap ramen kind of coats my mouth and a weird feeling. I still like it and I'll still eat it but it's noticeable. I didn't get that feeling with these packets. It definitely tastes a lot more like restaurant food. Plus I love the texture of the noodles, they're perfectly chewy and springy. I typically undercook my ramen noodles a tad and these were just delightful. Plus, including the little packet of Chili crisp is so nice too because that stuff is so good. And I love that it's separated because while I love heat most spicy ramens are way too spicy for me. So this way I can add exactly how much I want. I ate the tomato beef Taiwanese soup flavor on its own and it was really good. I added some veggies to the black garlic chicken, some bok choy and an egg. Delicious! These are definitely more expensive than regular ramen of course. But they are definitely an elevated ramen. But I'm kind of a ramen connoisseur I've paid a lot of money for ramen before because I just like trying different ones. I don't think it's crazy at all especially if you're looking for something high protein! Absolutely delicious! ... show more

  • Delicious, hearty ramen soup base
I was impressed when I opened this box of this ramen noodle variety pack. There are 3 large pouches of ramen plus a DIY chili crisp pouch. I made the chicken and black garlic noodle soup for dinner, and it was both delicious and easy to prepare. This one has a mild spice level, whereas the Thai Shrimp Tom Yum and the Taiwanese tomato beef noodle soup both show level 3 spice. After boiling water, you drop the noodles in, and they were done after a few minutes. I then transferred the noodles over into 2 bowls, added the included seasoning, then scooped 1.5-2 cups of the cooking liquid into the bowl. I added ingredients I had on hand— chicken, shredded carrot, edamame, soft-boiled egg, and green onions— plus I added a little chili crisp for some extra heat. It was absolutely delicious, and the garlic flavor was wonderful in the spice, and I love that it wasn’t too salty, as cheaper ramen packets tend to be. I love the noodles as well; they are dense and hearty, and packed with protein. One packet made 2 large bowls. I love the ingredients, and the expiration dates are great, being about 10 months out. I do find them to be pricey as they are a soup base and not the full meal, so I do wish more ingredients were included or they were more affordable. However, it’s excellent quality, and I do recommend them. ... show more
