Great adapters! I brought back some lamps from overseas and I quickly discovered that the E14 bulbs are larger than the American E12 bulbs. This adapter fixed that! For those reading who are unaware many 220v lamps will work just fine provided you a) have the correct wall adapter plug of course and b) you put a 120v (American) bulb in. Do not leave the 220v bulb in of course. *disclaimer I am not an electrician*. No step-up transformer needed. Not much to say, you screw it in to the lamp base and then screw the American 120v bulb. These worked nicely. Taking a tip from the other reviews, I needed to file down the bottom tip with a metal file just a tiny bit on 2 out of 5. I can't bring myself to take a star off for this issue -- as they're 1.) inexpensive, 2.) allow me to use USA lightbulbs in this German chandelier, and 3.) even with the 60 seconds invested in filing, the experience is waaaayyyyyy better than re-wiring the chandelier, which was my only other option (no way!) and 4.) maybe somebody's sockets need that extra distance on the tip? Don't know -- but I do know it's much easier to file off a little metal than to add it when the gap is too large -- agreed? ... show more

After living in the Midfle East for the last seven years, we finally moved home to CA (with quite a few Arabic lamps and a Turkish chandelier). I had no idea that the light bulbs there were different from US bulbs. After several trips to Home Depot buying and then returning different sized bulbs, I read a blog about my very problem. The blogs writer discussed his bulb size issues after he and his wife purchased a Turkish chandelier also.     • An easy solution

We got some small lamps from Turkey when we honeymooned there but they have the European plugs and a different candelabra base size compared to what is regularly available in the US. The adapters worked great for the bulbs along with adapters for the plugs. I highly recommend them! I recommend screwing them onto the bulb first and also not tightening the bulb too much when installing into the lamp, otherwise sometimes the base adapter gets left behind when unscrewing the bulb. ... show more

Only about half of the adapters worked. The solder connector at the bottom appears to vary in thickness from one adapter to the next. If the connector is too thin it will not work on all bulbs. The most challenging bulbs are the LED type because their lower connector is more flat than a common incandescent bulb. ... show more

Our French Deco ceiling fixture shipped with E14 sockets, for which few bulbs are available in the U.S., whereas there are plenty of E12 ("chandelier"-base) bulbs. These reducers were the obvious solution. At first they didn't seem to be working, but I simply had not screwed them in tight enough. The downside, if there is one, is that after a few days of use the inserts seem to have become permanent residents … though I don't see that being a problem.     • I have grinded the bottom of the adaptor as well as a bit of the top to better fit the American bulb

I purchased near enough 60 pieces. Only eight actually worked on the American bulbs. The adaptors seemed to be too long inside for the American light bulb to sit perfectly. Therefore, instead of sending them back, only to be replaced with more that do not fit exactly, I have adapted the adaptors by using a grinding machine. I have grinded the bottom of the adaptor as well as a bit of the top to better fit the American bulb. I hope this helps. It wasn't the easiest to get working, but much better than the alternative: replacing the entire light bulb socket!!! ... show more
