This is a really fun project and wasn't too difficult. It was my first paint by number experience, and I think it was a good choice for my first one. The only thing that is kind of disappointing is that you can see some of the numbers through the paint because the paint isn't always opaque enough. But if you stand back it really looks amazing. I bought this and didn't paint it for six months and one of the paints was starting to dry out, but I think that was my fault for not using it right away. This is BEGINNER PERFECT! less than 10 colors and plenty of large space to work. Sadly the paint cups are not full and that being said I ran out of 2 of my 7 colors. Thankfully I have plenty of paints that I was able to mix up my own but for someone just starting this might be an issue. My 8 year old would be able to do this. Its a great place to start but know that you'll need more paint than provided. *you can see in the photo the yellow/orange needs a 2nd coat-but there is none left and the pink also required more than 1 coat* ... show more

I did notice that some of the colors are off compared to the picture. There was a lot of pink, I had to make different shades to darken it up. This stencil was later added to a larger canvas and then I did an acrylic pour around the lion. He turned into a beautiful king and I am beyond happy! There was two colors that came completely dry in the paint provided but luckily was able to replicate the shades with some other Paints. ... show more

POSITIVES: I love this picture. I'm new to painting by number; and this pic does not have too many small, narrow painting spots. It's an excellent place to start. NEGATIVES: I DID NOT receive an additional paper tracing, which was disappointing; you usually get them with paint by number kits. I'm not sure why it was not included. Also, VERY IMPORTANT, it was not rolled, so there are A LOT of lumpy humps in the canvas. You need to iron it, and STILL it's lumpy. Big UGH. ... show more

I started working on this piece today and even though I am just on one color, I find the activity calming. It takes quite a bit of focus if you want to do it neatly and will take a few hours to complete, however I am in for the ride. And am looking forward to seeing the finished piece. It is pretty straightforward to follow, the paints are numbered to the sections on the canvas, the print is small, especially on the back of the box, but key in and you'll be able to keep track. There is a sticker and a paper printout of the canvas included in the package, along with 3 paint brushes and some hardware to hang your canvas (but first you have to get a wood frame to which you need to mount the piece).
