  • An AMAZING Tool
This is an AMAZING tool! I just returned the Sherry CS61200P for its inability to isolate the circuit AND giving way too many false positives (see my review on that tool). This tool (Klein ET300) is a simply, but highly effective tool. Before I discuss its use, let’s first look at the benefit that we are seeking with a circuit breaker finder: we want it to identify THE circuit breaker in question AND NOT identify ANY others (this is called a “false positive”). In short, with this type of tool, you are seeking CONFIDENCE. This tool delivers. Thistooldoes that 100% of the time and with ease. It bears repeating to list the instructions explicitly: 1) Plug the “signaling device” into the desired outlet (you can also test lights and wires with adapters). 2) Take the “finder” to your control panel. 3) Starting atone row of breakers at the first one, slide the finder right behind the breaker’s handle with the finder PERPENDICULAR to the breakers. 4) Slide it down that row and do the same for the other row(s). 5) You are doing this for the finder to “learn” the panel. IGNORE any sounds during this part of the test. 6) Then, do steps 3 & 4 AGAIN. 7) During this “slide” the finder WILL locate the ONE breaker in question — with a beep and a large green arrow. 8) If someone is helping you, ask them to watch the red light on the signaling device while you turn the circuit breaker off to confirm that it is the right breaker. It will be. The accuracy, the ability to not show false positives, the ease of use of this tool just blows me away. It is the FIRST time that I’ve ever used one of these tools with 100% confidence. It is that good! NOTE: My control panel is a Square D QO panel. I’m assuming that the tool will work similarly on other breakers & panels. Again, highly recommended, no reservations whatsoever, 100% satisfied. ... show more

  • Huge Time Saver; Works Accurately!
This tool is awesome. When I first moved into my house, I mapped out all the circuits. Years later, I had a major renovation and the contractor and electrician did a lousy job of not labeling anything on the circuit boxes. This tool takes care of that. I know a lot of people review these types of tracers and say they don't work. If you follow the directions carefully, this one works well. 1. Plug in the transmitter to the outlet in question. The circuit must have power. the Transmitter has a red light when connected. 2. Go to your circuit panel and turn on the Receiver. The breakers must be on. 3. Slowly scan each breaker in the box. Ignore any beeps or lights of now. 4. Hold power button on Receiver for a few seconds to shut it off. 5. Power receiver back on. 6. Scan the box again slowly, breaker by breaker. * I don't know that you HAVE to do Step 4/5. I found mine worked more accurately that way, but I also do have a main panel and a sub panel I was scanning so I wanted to boot the device cleanly after each use. NOTE: You should be holding the Receiver with one of the red arrows on the front (on each side of the word "Up") pointed up. You may have to turn it so the other arrow is pointed up as you switch sides on a box with two columns of breakers. Mine works accurately. I had a case of two where I had to touch a breaker again a couple of times to get a tone and the green arrow indicating that was the right breaker. I got NO false positives, which is the important part. FAQ: * It works on 90-120v, so if you are conventional 110v you can use this. it does NOT work on 220v. * You just scan the breakers; you do NOT need to remove the panel cover. * The Receiver comes with a 9v battery already installed. I highly recommend buying the Klein Tools 69411 accessory kit that includes a bulb socket to outlet adapter, and a female outlet to alligator clips adapter. These are handy when you want to trace a lighting fixture or wires as opposed to an outlet. If you need only the socket to outlet adapter you can buy one for much cheaper at Home Depot, etc. But if you want both adapters, this isn't a bad price. The only thing I don't like about it - I despise when manufacturers sell tools or gadgets that have multiple parts and then want to sell you a nylon bag to hold them for extra $$. But the product itself - 5 stars. ... show more

  • Works perfect, IF you read the destructions
This circuit finder actually works really well. You have to follow the instructions that come with it and it pinpointed the exact circuit breaker. Like the instructions and alot of people on here have already said, you plug in the signal sending unit(either plug it Into an outlet, or if you purchased the light bulb adapter, plug it into the adapter and then take out light bulb and screw in sender with bulb adapter on it)to wherever you're wanting to locate. Then, you go to wherever your main electrical panel is(mostly in basement or in garages of newer homes) and push the button to turn the receiver on(the longer of the two pieces that came with order)and with that power button facing the ceiling, you run down the first set and the up the second set of circuit breakers. You can do it the other way also. You're just training your receiver here so dont pay any attention to any beeps or lights until you've passed by all circuit breakers once. Then on the second pass, the receiver will only beep on the correct circuit breaker. To check it, flip that breaker off and if it's the right one, it will no longer beep when you pass over with the receiver. I also tested this to try and trace or follow a wire and it worked great for just the little bit I tested, however, it didnt have drywall over it. It was in a cluster of a bunch of other wires but I was able to isolate and pinpoint the right wire. ... show more
