These skates are fantastic. They did not make skates like this when I was growing up. Back then you had to tighten a pair of metal trucks to the bottom of your shoes for skates. They have come a long way, and that is a good thing. They are brightly colored, but not in a clashing or obnoxious way. The sewn in partial heel pad on one of the skates was not sewn very well and will probably require a little re-stitching to keep from coming apart. As for the liners, they feel soft and should not pose any irritation issues. They come with a set of insole liners, but you may what to pick up another set or two when they require adjusting for a longer foot. I think with the way the heel pad is sewn in, you may want to use a set of insoles right from the start. They also come with a set of knee, elbow, and hand protectors which is nice. Besides being adjustable for length as your child grows, one very nice feature I noticed was that the boots have pivots allowing for flexibility while skating. Between the straps and firmly closing buckles, the boot is not going to become loose accidentally. The bearing all turn freely and the wheels look good. I think kids will like the way the wheels light up adding a little “bling” to the skates. They even added flashing lights to the skate boots! Oh yeah, the instruction manual is very nice with details and decent photos. A pleasant surprise. Aside from the stitching on the one heel pad, I see nothing wrong with these skates.     • Great adjustable skates
Size: Medium (2Y-5Y)
My daughter loves these skates! I wish I would’ve found them sooner because she is in the biggest setting of the biggest size but she will get much use out of them since she loves skating. They roll really good for child skates, the wheels don’t lock up like a lot of other ones for kids. I wish they weren’t white since they do get dirty easily but they look nice, especially with the lights in the dark or at the roller rink. They function better than I expected and even though she’s taken some tumbles on cement they haven’t scratched or scuffed up. The pads and accessories were useless to us because they are made for toddlers, if you have a smaller scared to skate child then maybe they’d be useful but they weren’t for us. Overall these are a good value for the skates and I’d think most little girls would love them along with them being adjustable makes them worthwhile. ... show more

    • Room to grow.

The skates are really nice and its quite ingenious how the toe expands so that the kid can use them for more than a year. They are pretty heavy duty, and I think the quality is high. However, some things to consider: 1) The knee and elbow pads are near identical if not identical. This means the straps for the elbows are far too long as they are the same length as the knee pads. I had to figure out a way to shorten the strap so that the Velcro could align enough to be secure. 2) My daughter complained about the skates being too tight. Sure, that could be user error. However, I have rollerbladed my entire life and I can tell you, there is a difference between too much all around general pressure and a pressure point. I tried to get my five-year-old to describe her complaints with little luck and I did loosen enough that she stopped complaining. However, by the time I got to that point, I felt they were too loose. It could be just my kid but maybe not. It's just too hard to say for sure. This was her first set and maybe she just didn't know how to handle tight shoes. In spite of that, I wouldn't let this deter you from getting them. It was so much fun, and my daughter asks to wear them more so whatever her issues, they can't be that bad. My only complaint is the very real difference in quality between the skates and the extras. The extras are much lower quality than the skates. Again, I wouldn't let that deter you either because it's super nice to get an all-in-one package that is just ready to go for a first-time skater. Pictures were just too cute. ... show more

    • Quality adjustable skates with bonus safety gear

The other skates we've bought in the past have not come with these safety pads. This is a clear bonus. Admittedly, they're a lower end set of pads, but they will provide some protection. And when you give these skates to your kid, you already have the pads so they can immediately get skating. As skates like these go, these are standard. The wheels light up as they skate, the foot adjusts easily with a button and the skates are easy to slip on and off with the Velcro and sliding tightener pieces. They aren't any lighter or heavier than others we've purchased, some heft from the wheels and hardware.
