    • Good, large, nice looking toy box at a good deal
First-like all furniture, know that "all wood" does not mean "solid wood." This is a particle board/veneer product. Thats why you can get it for under a hundred bucks. Having said that, it's nice to look at, ours was defect and scratch-free and the espresso color, while not as dark as our espresso furniture is not as red as our cherry furniture. It just looks like traditional dark wood stain. Basically we were looking for something that looked less like kid stuff and more like furniture, fit in a family room that has dark brown leather furniture and espresso end tables, and this fits the bill, even if its not an exact match to the Espresso stain on the end tables. Easy assembly, good instructions, screws and parts labeled very well-even with individual, labeled punch outs to make it super easy. All tools except phillips screwdriver are included. I will say that some of the wood pegs did not line up to the holes, but I used a flathead screwdriver and hammer to redirect them and it was fine. Some nice features--the little-finger saving shocks that are attached to the lid. The size is nice and large for storage. (I saw complaints about the size in some reviews, but this is exact to the dimensions listed.) There is a good cutout in the front so our daughter can easily open the lid and then the shocks hold the lid up so it doesn't crash back down on her. It's very sturdy, people have sat on it and the kid has stood on it. Overall very pleased with this for the price. Only thing that would have been better is if it was solid wood, but I doubt you can find that in this size for $90 with free shipping. ... show more

I purchased two of these along with two toy organizers for my children, and I - without a doubt - purchased the RIGHT toy box. It holds a very good amount of big toys (I purchased the toy organizers for legos, and other small toys so my children wouldn’t have to dig through their box to get to them) and not to be dramatic, but it’s been life changing. I’m not kidding. This has gotten my childrens rooms SO organized and well put together and they haven’t been before. I LOVE the hydraulic legs on the top which prevents little fingers from getting smashed, and I love that it doubles as a bench when they’re not playing. The boxes are so cute, well made & very sturdy. If your children are like mine and make plenty of messes, these are very easy to wipe down as well. They’re not too big and bulky but they’re the perfect size for what we needed. I searched high and low, read hundreds of reviews & settled for this box, but it definitely wasn’t “settling”. It was EXACTLY what I was looking for. I was so nervous to drop so much money on something I wasn’t 100% sure about, but now I am so happy I did. I ordered the white version of this toybox for a friend for Christmas. The brown version arrived.... which isn't terrible although not terribly encouraging. For the most part the box was easy to assemble, although the lid was kind of a pain by myself. It would be much easier with a second person! Overall the box is quite sturdy and looks good. I discovered only at the very end as I put the final pieces on that one of the small metal pieces was broken. I emailed customer service, with the understanding that it's the Christmas season so they'd be bogged down... it was almost a week before I got some kind of response (the website wasn't terribly clear what information to include, so the customer rep just asked for more information). It's not been almost another full week and I've received no response. All I'm hoping is to get a replacement part for the one that arrived broken.... I've tried leaving a message on their website and calling, and so far I'm not impressed by the responsiveness of the customer service of KidKraft. Will update if/when they reply, or if they never do. Edit: I called them, and selected the option to have them call me back, since I knew it would be busy. They did help me over the phone much more than through any other means... they are currently sending me replacement parts to replace those that were broken. I suppose my advise would be to call for service, and not use any other means they offer, at least not around Christmas time. ... show more

I bought this toy box for my 2 year old neice. I haven't given it to her yet, but i am sure she will like it. This review is more about the company of KidKraft than it is the product. Wile i was putting it together one of the "lid support" peices, or hinge, broke and I was unable to fix it. Plus by my own admission, I scratched one side of it beyond repair and needed replacement. After seaking with the KidKraft rep and learning what numbers i need to provide them, i called them up to tell them i needed parts. What they didn't tell me when i bought it is that every part is under a 90 day warrenty even if it's fault of the damage. I am recieveing 2 replacemnt parts for no charge that will be in here in what they said would be 3 to 5 days. I am extraordianry pleased witht he company of KidKraft and would buy from them again. Now for the review of the box. Other uses had reviewed that the cherry finish is shoddy and looks "fake". Not mine. The finish is lovely and the quality is great. It isn't wood, if thats what your expecting. More of a laminate over heavy duty cardboard. But still very good quality. The size is great, very roomy and bigger than i would have expected. Over all i give 5 stars-but it's worth 6 stars. Especially witht he company standing behind it so very well. Great Job! ... show more
