I didn't want to spend $80 on a ski mirror for the pontoon but after seeing what is out there w/o a windshield mount I decided to bite the bullet. Turns out this is a great mirror! See the picture. Super sturdy, and best part it looks like part of the boat or at least a marine accessory - it's heavy duty and seems to be withstanding the waves and wakes just fine!     • Versatile mounting options

My pontoon boat does not have the normal rail that most every other boat has. I have a solid wall, with no rail to clip onto all the way around the boat. Most windshield mounts are for the thick windshield frames around a typical sport boat, I have a curved acrylic which again cannot really be clamped onto. I have been looking for something with a versatile mounting option for some time, and finally found it. I wound up clamping the mount onto a seasucker triple beverage holder, making it into a double cup holder (the mirror is now in the middle spot). Not the perfect solution, but the end result is perfect for my needs of a mirror. It is is on the inside of my boat, to my left, so it doesn't have to be removed if docked close to a pier or another boat. It is easily adjustable to my choice of compromise between least forward blockage and perfect visibility. Glass is nice quality, and bracket seems to have a durable finish. Clamps, for the most part, can be well tightened for minimal movement. My only slight criticisms are, the pole when screwed into the clamp, no matter how tight, can still turn a bit side to side. I wedged a few pieces of zip tie in while I pushed it into its spot to keep it tight. Also, while the pipe into the clamp rotates 360 degrees, if you were to mount the clamp in a vertical position, the teeth on the gear will lock down into a position that is just off vertical, upsetting visual symmetry. The price is a bit on the higher side, but if it is the only thing that will do the trek for your application, it becomes reasonable. I still had to adapt, although that is due to my boat. We've been looking for a mirror for our pontoon for a while and finally found this one. The mirror is large enough to see a wide area behind you while driving. The clamp design is very sturdy! The extension pole allows for greater flexibility on viewing angles and distance behind the boat. The rotating options provide for versatility in installation and use, especially when trying to put the bimini up and down. The only issue I had with installation was that one of the bolts did not want to go in the threaded hole; I had to use a jar opener to turn the bolt. I liked that this mirror arrived in relatively compact packaging but the non-recyclable foam insert could be made more eco-friendly. Though it seemed really sturdily manufactured, the mirror has a thumb-screw-tightened mount that doesn't work with the window frame of my 2014 Stingray 191RX - the screws are too short. I'll need to improvise a mount of some sort to put it to effective use. I'm also disappointed that it's adjustable in only two dimensions - making the placement of the mount all the more critical. ... show more
