  • wide toe, needs more heel cushioning
Size: 11 Color: Drizzle/Keen Yellow
I typically buy cheap hiking boots ($50) which never fit well nor last, but purchased a mid-range Keen Targhee III Mid Height boot ($100). The boot fit well out of the box. I have a slightly wide at the toe foot and the toe area was wide enough which was a plus. I have two issues with the boot. One, the tongue area does let moisture/debris onto the sock as others have mentioned in reviews, and more importantly to me, the heel was inadequately cushioned. The boot has a Keegen removable insert that just wasn't adequate for a 250 lb man who walks primarily on hard surfaces. I added a gel heel insert on top of the Keegan removable insert and this forced my toes a little too far forward but made the boot more comfortable with respect to pounding my heels. ... show more

  • Good boots, bad insoles
Size: 10 Color: Drizzle/Keen Yellow
I now have 3 pair of Keens, all the same size but only one pair really fit right. This pair showed up and we're very uncomfortable. In trying to figure out why one pair for well and others didn't, I notice that the 2 that didn't were shipped with those plant based insoles. Luckily, my comfortable pair weren't and when I swapped out the insoles, these boots fit perfectly. In fact, I took out the insoles and wore them around for a couple days to break them in and they were more comfortable without them. Problem is, I can't really figure out which of the several insoles they sell are the comfortable ones as there doesn't appear to be any consistent labeling, coloring or numbering system. So I'm starting the process of buying some and figuring it out, which seems silly an unnecessary. But the boots themselves are light and comfortable and seem well built, thus the ranking of 5 stars is based on that. But keen gets 3 for this nonsense. ... show more

  • Hello Matanuska Glacier!
Size: 10.5 Color: Bungee Cord/Black
It's always a challenge to know if your new hiking boots are broken in enough to take on a hike, let alone a glacier in Alaska. I had been a Keen advocate ever since I got their work shoes that broke in very easily and have been durable and comfortable work shoes. I figured these hiking boots might also be easier to break in than my others and they were. So pleased with the fit, comfort, break-in, and waterproofing. I can't brag about these enough. Just walk in them awhile before you take that long hike and you'll thank your boots for happy feet. ... show more

  • Not quite right
Size: 10.5 Wide Color: Black Olive/Golden Brown
I wanted to love these boots. Rugged design with a substantial outsole and dense midsole the create the foundation of a great boot. But the insole ruins everything thing for me. The firm outside edge of the insole hurts. I was hoping it would soften but not soon enough for me to keep them. Other reviewers trimmed the edge or swapped the insoles with aftermarket options. I can't justify spending this much on hiking boots and then investing another $30 to make them comfortable. ... show more

  • Comfort
Size: 12 Color: Drizzle/Keen Yellow
I've had these for about a month now but I've only wore these inside around the house . They seem very comfortable with a lot of support.

  • A small adjustment made all the difference for a great fit.
Size: 9.5 Wide Color: Black Olive/Golden Brown
The media could not be loaded. This pair is a warranty replacement for another pair that was only a year old; thankfully when the first pair failed Keen followed through on their commit to quality. As you can see and hear in my short video clip, the insole that came with the shoe did not fit my wide foot. The outside rear portion of the insole created pressure on my foot that was actually painful. I didn’t think this would be the case especially after “upgrading” to a wide size. Surprisingly, the insole also lacked in arch support. Fortunately, I had my trusted Fleetfeet insoles, which slipped in and created a great fit and better support for my foot. The rest of the shoe is great and delivers as promised. I recommend the KEEN Men's Targhee III Mid Height waterproof shoes for light to moderate trail hacking. I think my toddler would agree, particularly because we we able to travers more unravel ground with him on my back in a hiking pack. The waterproofing helped greatly during our early spring thaw hikes, let’s pray it doesn’t fail like they did in the last pair. ... show more

  • Pretty good boot
Size: 10.5 Color: Bungee Cord/Black
I had to order 3 pair before I found my size but once I got the right size in I really like them. I'm still in the break in phase but I have walked several miles in them and so far so good. I think they are pretty good for the money, they look good and have really good ankle support. I have gotten them pretty dusty and they don't allow and dirt to get into your socks. I use them with darn tough socks and my feet feel really good after wearing them for a full day. ... show more

  • Fits nicely beside large toes space.
Size: 11 Color: Black Olive/Golden Brown
It's not the manufacturer flaws its my feet being too narrow. I wear it everyday. Its light and latch onto my feet. It will not breathe freely which means waterproof. With a pair of wool socks its perfect.
