These sandals protect your feet pretty well, around the house and on trails. They are not as good in that respect of course as solid hiking shoes, but they are an alternative, especially for summer. I will say no more on that, other than after wearing them now for 3 or 4 months I have really grown fond of them, and I am particular about my shoes. Open toe sandals are comfortable, but banging your toes is not, nor is hurting yourself because you wore an unstable shoe. Regarding sizing, my foot is a 12, a pretty standard foot I would say. My foot measures 11 1/4 inches, exactly at the standard size 12 length. I have several pair of these sandals now, both in size 12 and 13. Both sizes work fine for me. I actually think I prefer the 12's, they are a bit more solid on my foot. I expect to wear the 13's more often when it is cold with socks, to give me a little more space. But I can wear the 12's with socks just fine. I have not trouble putting the 12's on or taking them off, just push your foot all the way in and the heel strap will slide on easily. They stretch out after you have worn them awhile, I can't tell much difference between wearing a 13 and a 12. In fact to test myself I put on a pair not knowing the size (I have the same color in both sizes). I guessed that I was wearing the 13 and I was incorrect, I was wearing the 12. I have also walked around with a 12 on one foot and a 13 on the other. I found no major difference between the two feet. I also have the leather version in size 12, they seem just a little bigger than the polyester but not enough to matter much. In summary, at least for me, the issue people have about sizing is very overblown. I would get a 12 1/2 if it existed, but I have often felt that way with other shoes. For me it is either a 12 or 13, and generally I prefer the 12. I have enough toe room in the size 12 of these sandals, they fit fine, around the house, walking trails with my dogs, and of course in the water. They really do dry out fast, If they get wet I just let them dry and put on a different pair.

For wearing around water, these would be very good. For general wear, they are also good. The first pair I bought were defective- something about the way the straps attached to the sole caused a lump under one side of my foot and became a nuisance after a couple hours of wear. The second pair I bought have been very good. Initially I found it a bit snug trying to fit these on my feet, and also a minor struggle to pull them off, but now I take a moment to loosen the bungee laces to the toe and it's easier to slip on and off. I noticed that the bungee laces don't equalize tension up and down the shoe as well as regular laces do, so I have to manually stretch and pull to balance the tight and loose areas on the shoe. I read a number of reviews that said the new version doesn't last as long as the old ones, but that is a refrain that is repeated across the board with shoes as well as other products. I have no doubt that is true, but there don't seem to be any shoes that are exempt from the complaint. I like these shoes and I'm glad I bought them, but I have some doubts about how well they are made. It seems you can no longer rely on name brands or price paid to get assured quality.

I have been wearing sandals for decades. Been through all the big brands except this one and was looking for some thing that was comfortable for hiking, but could also be worn crossing rivers, or swimming in salty hot springs. Took a trip to Chile and I needed to replace the other brands that I had before starting the trip, so I bought these. Super impressed and they fit extremely comfortably and completely exceeded my expectations. They are expensive, but I do believe that, in this case, you get what you pay for. Even hiking in sand, somehow the design seemed to keep my feet less sandy than the other people I was hiking with who were wearing other brands and also running shoes.

I purchased these shoes for an upcoming trip to Europe. I have been wearing them while walking the dog and they have been very very comfortable. I’m sure that they will be perfect for my trip. A bit of advice though the shoes do run small. I normally wear a 10. I purchased a 10 but had to return it for a 10 1/2. Order a half size larger than normal and you should be fine.

Bought a pair of Newport and a pair of Newport H2 both in US size 10.5. Keen claims both are built on the same lasts and fit the same, but that isn't my experience. The Newports feel a little little loose, to the point that I'm thinking of re-ordering in a size 10. The Newport H2 is a little tough to get on, but for us good, definitely more snug than the same size Newport.

I ordered these to replace an old original design pair of the same shoe that finally blew out after 15 years of camping, hiking, boating and submerged water use. I have not had a chance to use this new pair yet but I hope to get the same mileage out of them. They arrived within a week and the fit and quality is as expected. These are great outdoorsy tough shoe.

These sandals are perfect. They do run a little tight if you want to wear socks, but if you get a half size larger it is easy to adjust for both. Unlike leather, they can get wet - can be in the ocean or even be put in the washing machine. They have a metatarsal arch, so my feet do not get tired. The width can be adjusted easily to accommodate switching from wearing socks and not.
