These are pretty comfy Mid-Rise boots that would be good for hiking. I find myself wearing these more and more every day. They have been holding up pretty well and feels quality. It has the quick lace feature too which is a nice bonus to me.

The boots are very comfortable and nice looking, definitely the quality that you expect from Keen. The sole is rugged yet flexible and the shoe feels very breathable. Things to consider are that the boot is more for moderate hikes rather than hardcore or challenging and sharp terrains. The sole depth on the thread is of about 4mm with some areas where the neoprene shows at the bottom (I'm not a fan of that design choice). The thread could be taller in my opinion, and I think that exposing the neoprene allows for more chances for the sole to detach from the shoe. Another important thing to consider is that the waterproofing is chemical (chemically treated fabric) rather than impermeable materials (like treated leather, plastic, or non-porous materials), therefore allowing the shoe to become vulnerable to water over time. Overall, it is a good shoe if you do light hikes and don't plan on doing hard terrain or constantly putting the waterproofing to the test. I say they are good for beginners but won't be the best choice for hardcore enthusiasts. ... show more

I would expect better quality when paying $162.00 for boots/tennis shoes. The boots/tennis shoes just didn't stand up to Keen quality. Would not recommend buying the shoes.
