This fisherman's tool set from Kastking is quite lovely. All the included tools feel pleasant in the hand and appear to be well-made from quality materials. The handles on the pliers and fillet knife are exceptionally comfortable, offering a secure grip even with wet hands. The fillet knife is remarkably sharp and possesses excellent flexibility. The sheath even incorporates a built-in sharpener, a thoughtful and convenient design feature for use on the water. The fishing pliers are very durable. The metal is robust and features a pleasing coating. The tip includes integrated ring pliers. These pliers also incorporate a line cutter and crimper. As these pliers do not include a sheath, they are best suited for transport within a toolbox or tackle bag with a dedicated pliers pouch. In my opinion, the scale is the most useful tool in this kit. It's considerably smaller than the Rapala scale I've used for several years. The illuminated screen displays numbers clearly, showing weight in pounds, kilograms, and ounces. My only wish is that it could display weight in pounds and ounces simultaneously (e.g., 1 lb 8 oz), rather than just as 1.5 lbs or 24 oz. Another great feature is its rechargeable design via USB-C, eliminating the need for frequent battery changes. Overall, this is an excellent fishing tool set suitable for anglers of all skill levels, offering exceptional functionality at a great price. It would also make an excellent gift for an angler.

I like the set well enough, the pliers are sturdy and good, the fillet knife could hold an edge a little better, but it works well enough. Scale is good and accurate. My issue came with the lip grippers, I liked them a lot for getting quick weights and for removing hooks, however, I caught a 5lb Largemouth last night, she shook and snapped the gripper right off! Luckily I was up on the ground and got the weight, or I would have lost her in the water with a big hunk of plastic in her throat. The scale goes up to 70lbs(I believe) you'd think the grippers used for weighing with it could handle a 5lb bass. I'm going to contact them about a replacement, that could up my rating on the product. Update: I got in touch with kastking, their response was prompt. They didn't have the gripper available to directly replace it, but offered a refund to be able to find an equivalent. 4 stars...the gripper shouldn't have broken on a 5lb fish, but the rest of the tools are fantastic and the company stands behind their products. I also have a baitcaster reel from them and I'm very happy with it. All in all, I solid company I'll buy from again.

The KastKing "ToughTide Fish Scale with Lip Gripper" has some design changes compared to their previous model, the "WideView Floating Waterproof Digital Scale." The ToughTide is substantially smaller and more streamlined, which is a blessing when storage space is at a premium—especially for kayak anglers like me. Unlike fishing on a bass boat where storage is limited, kayak storage is even tighter. This scale fits perfectly in my storage box, which slides neatly under my seat. One of the standout features is the built-in rechargeable battery, which eliminates the need for disposable batteries (and reduces landfill waste). Plus, it charges via USB, making it incredibly convenient. The bright blue display is easy to read, whether it's bright daylight or nighttime. The lip lock system is another area where KastKing nailed it. I immediately tested if I could open and close the grips with one hand—an essential feature when you're holding a big fish in your other hand. It works flawlessly, allowing ambidextrous use without fumbling. Another thoughtful addition is the storage snap on the back of the scale, which locks the hook in place. So I own this thing, and if you want a quick fast opinion. My opinion would be to tell you to find something a little better. With that being said it does work. Never had a problem with it turning on and functioning. Now for some reason when I turn mine on every time it seems to be in a different weight measurement which can be kind of annoying. But if you're in a hurry and you don't have time to figure out how to switch it back you can Google what 81 Oz is or whatever measurement you're in. I love how small it is. It's my favorite aspect of this scale. I can just clip it to my belt or throw it in a pocket and if I could design one that would definitely be one of the key features that I would keep. But keep in mind a lot of these are just repurposed luggage scales. So you get what you pay for. The light up display the fact that it floats and is waterproof and it's rechargeable are all perfect. Wouldn't change any of that. The things I would change, there needs to be a button for every function. One button that does multiple functions just ends up being a pain in the butt. The power button needs to be the power button and it shouldn't do anything else. It also needs to automatically save the weight. You shouldn't have to worry about hitting another button to save the weight while holding a fishing pole and a fish and a fish scale all while trying not to get hooked. Also the clamp that they give you is not practical. Although it technically works it's not easy to use single-handed. And it's definitely not easy to get unlatched single-handedly. Especially while holding a pole and other things. This style of clamp needs to disappear. I just end up using the hook. You just have to hook the fish through the Gill plate. It works as long as the fish is cooperating. On the note of the clamp, the vice grip style clamp is what every fish scale needs to come with. And it needs to be attached to the scale via a split ring(key ring) or something essentially permanent but not so permanent that you can't take it off if you need to replace the clamp. Ultimately I can probably make this one work. Cutting off the hook. Replacing it with a split ring and attaching a small vice grip style Fish Grabber. And short of the button situation, it would work out just fine. But I don't know why they can't just make one already set up like that. It seems like as soon as you get a good fish grabber you get a much bigger unit. Which is not necessary. A friend of mine wants to give me his old Rapala but that thing's built like a supermarket barcode scanner. And nobody wants that hanging off their belt. Just my two cents so take it for what it's worth.
