So, I was looking for a pair of new fishing pliers and came across the KASTKING Cutthroat 7” Fishing Pliers. I did a fair amount of research and decided KASTKING would be the fishing pliers for me. Several reasons led me to this result. 1- The orange textured rubber grip handles ARE A MUST plus the color looks great and easy to see if you drop them. 2- Corrosion Resistant Stainless Steel corrosion resistant 420 stainless steel coated with a tough Teflon coating for added protection. I needed a pair of fishing pliers that are built to last all different types of enviornments 3- Tungsten Carbide Cutters cut through everything and are placed in the perfect spot easy to lineup. 4- Multi-Function Jaws – Grab and remove any fish hook, cinch down a knot, crimp a weight, and a hook pull are just a few things this awesome pair of fishing pliers can do! 5- Sheath and Lanyard - This was included too! I needed a way to clip the KASTKING pliers to my fishing backpack, plus it has the cool KASTKING logo on it too so I can show it off to everyone. The only thing I would recommend is to change the clip to a stronger type or a velcro clip so it locks in tight without too much play. In conclusion, I am glad I found these fishing pliers and I am really happy with the purchase. I gave this 5 stars and I recommend this to any fisherman who wants a high quality product that is built to last and able to withstand the elements. (Writing this from my wife's account, she's only half this awesome) If you're looking for a fine piece of fishing utility, look no further. Being military and stationed overseas, I don't have much happiness. But let me tell you all, when I received this pair of pliers with the sexiest logo I've ever seen boldly stamped onto them, holy cow. Like a gift from the heavens, these bad boys came out glowing. Firm in the hand, let's you feel In charge of any situation. Hooked a sea monster fishing from a kayak and that unnecessary over sized reinforced wire leader refusing to snap as you're being pulled out to sea and your most certain demise? Too easy. Grab these bad boys and give that wire a chop chop here and a couple snips there and bam, you're free. If that fails, the slender and slick aggressive tapered point in these bad boys will surly pierce through anything. Cram these beast into that monsters cerebral cortex and live to see your kids graduate college. Incredible. By far the best fishing pliers I've ever owned. They can do it all. Do the gods look down upon us? Have they left us to rot? These questions seemed all but hardened until I gazed my weary eyes upon this holy instrument. It seemed all but unreal when I heard the knock on the door only to answer with no one there. I looked left, right, then left again. Alas, the holy deliverer had disappeared only to leave behind the box. I thought to myself "What's in the box?" only to have that answer haunt me for 192 hours until the allure of the mystical unknown over powered me. I opened the box with the ease of a lion only to be blinded by the light that was inside. Once that light disappeared there it sat. Another box. This one was not like the last however. This box was made with the gentlest of hands. One could see the magnificent craftsmanship that went into it. I thought to myself "who art thou that is worthy of such beauty!". Then it happened, my human hands longing for such magnificence opened the box and there it set. The artifact that was bestowed upon the gods. Let me start by saying I love kastking products. I have several reels, rods and love their braid. And staying upfront, I received a free pair as part of a promotion and at first I thought they were great so, I BOUGHT a second pair. I had not really used the first pair much at all. The day I ordered the second pair, the first pair broke at the handle while closing a split shot on a line. I was hoping that maybe the first pair was just a bad batch. I just received the second pair and there is A LOT of flex in the handles and I can already tell they will only be good for cutting lines and working with split rings. I'll still purchase other kastking products but, I'll never buy another pair of these and they'll probably just sit in my garage. ... show more

These are excellent fishing pliers. The grips are comfortable, the finish is durable and the functionality is spot on. I kind of wish I'd gotten the non-split ring version. It's useful, but I don't use it much for it's intended purpose and a traditional tip would be helpful in snagging pinched line, etc., in tight caster spools after the occasional backlash. PROS: - Comfort - Build Quality (pliers, case and retention cable) - Cuts mono, fluoro and braid easily - Split ring nose works well CONS: - The included carabiner is a joke. The spring broke after 3 weeks. - I wish the clip had clicking settings and didn't spin freely. It's not "loose", but having it "hold" a position would be nice. - As such, I wish it included a snap strap through the handles to help retain it when the case inevitably gets inverted. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED - a better clip and a few tweaks to the case would make this superb ... show more
