Mr. Elliott here - I purchased this rash guard (and a few others) to take on a 10 day trip to Tahiti/BoraBora over New Years. I am 5'8" with a slightly pasty 175# dad bod and I was determined not to get sunburned like I usually do. First I ordered a large, based on some of the feedback I read. It was HUGE. I reordered a Medium and it was still big. So I ended up with a small and it fit comfortably - not tight but not too loose either. I wore this rash guard every time I got in the ocean to snorkel, swim or kayak - which was almost every day of the trip. At the end of the day I laid the shirt out in the sun or hung it up to dry. It worked great. It totally protected me from the sun and never smelled funky or mildewy. And it looked pretty good too. I never even opened or used the other two rash guards. I will continue to use this one for other outdoor activities until it falls apart. And then I will order another one. Also, for sun protection I always take my BAH (Big @$$ hat) and it really helps protect my face, ears and neck. ... show more

    • Perfect for the pool

I am a swim instructor, and I work in a cold pool all day so I need an extra lightweight layer to keep me a little warmer. This shirt is perfect for a lot of reasons, the first being that it is very durable. I am in the water for sometimes 6+ hours a day, so if something I wear is able to withstand that, I am very impressed. I like having it in white because black or darker colors tend to fade due to the chemicals in the pool. It is also very light, meaning when I have to demonstrate a stroke to one of my students I don't feel heavy and like I am dragging a lot of weight. It won't keep you extremely warm like a wetsuit so just know that it is really just an extra barrier. I work in an indoor pool so I am unsure about the sun protection but since it is very lightweight it is a little see-through so keep that in mind if it is all you are wearing. ... show more

This is a mid-to-light weight rash guard. Hubby is 5’ 10” and weighs 174#. He can wear both Med and Lg shirts depending on the style. We ordered this in a medium and it fits tight like you would want a rash guard to do. The different brands vary so widely. He’s replacing a Billabong he’s worn (worn out!) for years. That shirt has nicer features like the pull tab on the bottom hem to get it off and on (esp. handy when wet), a heavier weight fabric, gusseted sleeves, a cowl neck and side panels. This is pretty basic compared to the Billabong one. It does have overlock seams. It’s 100% polyester… no spandex. ... show more

Purchased this shirt to wear in my water aerobics class. I wear it over my bathing suit for sun protection. The long sleeves bother me a little in the water but not a big deal. I just need to get used to the feel in the water
