  • Cute and Comfy Rainboots!
I debated between these and some Hunters, but after reading far too many reviews about the Hunters cracking just after the year warranty ran out (conveniently) and how the Hunter customer service was unhelpful in resolving the situations. I decided to go with the Kamiks. Then I had a tough time deciding which size to get in the Jennifer. Seems like most reviewers offered advise to order up a size. So I am hoping to give as much help as I can to those who are wondering which size is best for you:) These rain boots are very cute and comfortable. I almost always wear a 9 but I do have some 8.5s in Puma lace up athletic shoes, although my puma ballet flats (the Zandy and Bixley) are all 9s. Most of flip flops are 9s no matter what brand. Converse Chuck taylors are a women's 8/mens 6, which are a tiny bit big but fit comfortably. I have a couple 8.5s Donald Pliner lower heeled pumps, and some coach loafers. I also have a few 9.5s in Donald Pliner, and Cole Haan boots. But I almost always wear a 9. I have 3 pairs of rain boots two from target and another pair from eBay that don't appear to have a name brand those are all 9s. They are on the big side, but the 8s were too short so I put thick shoe inserts in the spring and fall months and in the winter just use fleece liners from Capelli and I have no issue with them fitting too small, if anything in the spring and summer months they are a smidge big on me. I have 13-13.5" calves at the largest part and a fairly slender foot. I do not need to buy narrow shoes and only have one or 2 pairs in narrow, by pure chance. I purchased what I felt would likely fit (size 9) and then got scared they wouldn't fit and also ordered 10s. The 10s were HUGE on me they are too big just about everywhere they could be and my heel was very loose in the boots and made the weird walloping rain boot sound when I walked noisily around my house. The only place they still fit okay was my calves, I still had plenty of room for fleece liner. When I took them off they came off easily enough. So I tried the 9s thinking they would be too small to fit the fleece liners I have for rain boots. They fit like my other 3 size 9 rain boots. The 9s are still roomy in the toe box area they have room in the heel, not as much as the 10s, but still roomy. I also put my shoe inserts in the Jennifer's and they fit great! I almost wonder if I could even go down to an 8... but my fleece liners fit in my rainbows great and I have decided just to keep the 9s as I think an 8 would not allow for me to wear the fleece liners I have for the winter. I tried on the rain boots with skinny jeans inside my rain boots and the fleece liners on and I had no issues at all with any part of the boots being too tight. The tightest part of the boots for me was the top of my foot towards my ankles. but I think both the 9s and 10s fit the same on that area. It was not uncomfortable at all, but perhaps someone with thicker feet might find it too tight. Removing the size 9 Jennifers was no issue as well, I took them off fairly slowly and my sock needed a bit of adjusting but that was it. I can see where they could be more difficult, but I had no problems:) So far I recommend these rain boots, they look nicely made and felt nice and light on my feet compared to my older heavier rain boots anyways. As far as color goes the the turquoise is not quite as blue-green as I had hoped (when I think turquoise, i think of a bit more green in the blue almost kinda towards a robins egg blue but not that green), alllmooost like a bright sky blue, but they are cute and bright so I am keeping them:) The only things I thing I would like to see different is maybe a shiny finish rather than the matte and a really great Legally Blonde/Barbie Box bright pink. The shades Kamik refers to as "pink" are way too purple for me. **The shoe inserts I have that I use for my rain boots are not thin dainty liners they are thick and plush I bought them on clearance at target about a year ago:) ... show more

  • Hunter Originals VS Kamik Jennifer = Kamik wins hands down :)
I bought these to replace my Hunter Originals which I wore a total of about 5 times (after ordering them from the UK - I live in Australia). Apart from the price & hassle of having to sell on my hunters, I AM SO GLAD THAT MY HUNTERS DIDN"T FIT WELL AS I NEVER WOULD HAVE FOUND MY KAMIK JENNIFERS :) VERY HAPPY! KAMIK JENNIFER: - Oh so LIGHTWEIGHT (seriously, I was supprised at how light they are). This is a bonus as they'll be light in my luggage when traveling. - MY FOOT MEASURES: 25.5cm from centre back of heel to end of big toe(26cm when rolling through my foot when walking as my heel leaves the ground). Floor straight up to top of my foot at highest part of my arch = 7.5cm (I am an ex-dancer, but no problems experienced with these boots :) Widest part of my calf when flexed = 37cm. - PERFECT FIT: I ORDERED A US9 and they are the perfect length & width (comfortable with thin socks & skinny jeans, but can still fit thick socks or my Hunter wellie warmers in them). - Easy to slip on & off with thin/thick socks. Need to tug a little to get off with wellie warmers (not that hard though). - GREAT HEIGHT: MY LOWER LEG MEASURES 43cm from the floor to the crease in the back of my knee (when sitting with knees at right-angles & measured up side of the leg) and the US9 KAMIK JENNIFER FINISHES 4cm BELOW THAT CREASE in the back of my knee when sitting at right-angles. Perfect amount of space for some colourful sockage to show ;) BLACK & BROWN TRUE TO COLOUR: The black is great & goes with everything & I love the little horse logo on the side (gives them a touch of class without being pretensious). Brown is a lovely rich chocolate that makes them look like you could wear them in place of brown leather boots without dulling your outfit down (I ordered black & a brown pair for a friend). - Ridged enough for a lovely shape, but flexible enough that I can actually crouch down or sit cross legged comfortably. - Do NOT make slapping noises against the back of my legs when walking. - RECYCLABLE! They scuff pretty easily (mostly on the inner leg where your feet brush past each other) and because of the material they're made of (not rubber) the scuffs are slightly lighter than the actual colour of the boot. However, TO GET RID OF SCUFFS I've found that RUBBING THE MARK WITH AN ERASER works effectively to REMOVE THE SCUFF MARKS. The pigment of the boot (for the black anyway) isn't as deep/dark as black Hunters so don't dress up as easily as Hunters, but still look pretty spiffy. I really suggest going to the KAMIK WEBSITE & PRINTING off their 'KAMIK ATRIUM RAIN BOOTS'INNEROLE PATTERN SIZING GUIDE so you can place your foot straight on it to see which size you need as opposed to stuffing around with measuring your feet. It gave me piece of mind as I'm anywhere from a 7 in heels to a 9 (when there's no half sizes). HUNTER ORIGINALS TALL: Bent in a way that pressed into my achilles tendon every time my heel hit the ground in the first part of taking a step (I don't want to risk getting tendonitis). Sloppy fit (US 9 was ok length, but really big everywhere else around my actual foot. Slapped the back of my leg (audible in the library) when walking. Rather heavy. Expensive. Easier to dress up, mostly due to the deeper pigment (i.e. deeper black) and ever so slightly more sheen. ... show more

  • Love these! (mostly, so far)
I'm back to taking trains and subways to work after driving for a couple years and realized after getting soaked last week on my way home that I needed to invest in some decent boots that will keep me dry from the knee down. I read a lot of the reviews before purchasing and was trying to decide between these and a couple other Kamik rain boot styles, all of which I really like. Went with these mainly because they are tallest and I have fairly long legs. A few reviewers noted that they had trouble with the boots being too snug in the footbed and I have higher than average arches, so I ordered a size 11 (I'm usually a 10, occasionally 11 depending on the shoe) and they fit very well. They are super cute, and appear to be quite well-made and worth the price (will update if that changes after they get some wear) Wore them today for the first time with a light sock and experienced no pinching or rubbing. I think in winter with a thick sock they will be fine, too. Also, the tread on bottom allows me to walk on wet surfaces with confidence. If you have large calves, these are not the best choice-they may go on fine, but walking comnfortably in them is another matter as they are not very pliable. This is where they lose a star... My calves are pretty sturdy and when I was climbing stairs the boot shaft was a little tight in the upper calf, which felt a bit awkward. I don't THINK they will loosen up based on the material they are made of, but I could be wrong. Because of this, I don't think I could leave them on all day, which is a little bit of a bummer as they look great tucked into jeans. Overall, though a well constructed pair of boots that will serve their purpose nicely and with some style. ... show more
